This is not a new image to those that know me, but for those that don't know me I figured it would make a decent introductory post. I chose this image for my first post because I would like to revisit it if I'm given solid critiques.

Flight of Fantasy games commissioned me for this piece for the Game of Thrones project. It was pretty fun to work on, and the guy that approved it seemed pleased. It is my favorite card out of the 5 that I completed.

Feel free to check out my other works through the sig, though I'm not featuring everything there right now. I'm such a slacker, I'll never get my webpage done. :D

that looks great -- how did you paint in all those little details for the chain mail??!

overall nice . i like the grainy sandy sort of texture to it. the only things that bothered me a little bit was the handle. i think the handle is a bit crooked and i put a ruler to the sword and it seems the handles a bit off and not straight. also i'd like to see the hilt (is that what its called? the part between handle and blade) to be more detailed but thats just in my opinion. great job

Spritemare - It took me a very long time, definitely spent most of my time working on that - but I'm still not fully pleased. I won't lie either, there is a little rubber stamping of places I had already painted as well. Hey, don't look at me like that! I was getting tired and there was a deadline to meet. ;)

Well, on one hand I am slightly flattered that parts of my image are photorealistic... but on the other hand I'm a bit irritated that you're only saying that because you think I'm "cheating". ;)

If you're suggesting that I paint over pictures, you may look at my tutorial page to see how I work.

hmmxkrazee - Sorry, I forgot to respond to your comment. I agree about the handle of the sword and its the first thing on my list to touch up if I work on this painting again. Perspective is one of my biggest flaws and I had a really hard time figuring out how to get that to work. Thank you for the feedback.

Cool image! The chain mail looks great and I think you did a good job on the right hand(the one holding the sword). Something about the other hand looks off to me. I think it might be that the thumb looks like it is too big and possibly not in the right location anatomically. Also, it seems like his forearm might be a bit too small (but, I'm not positive about that).
Great work:thumbsup:

Wonderful colour palette you've used there, Kath. One of the things that make your style so distinct is how the faces and hands draw your attention before the costumes, even though they're both very well-rendered. It makes you notice the person before the textures, IMO.

The white streaks across the hilt of the sword don't work as a reflection. Possibly just strong white hilights on the surfaces facing the light is all that's needed.
