This is a self portrait I'm working on using Painter 6. It's for my folks (hehe, I'm not _that_ vain... ;) ) and they want a painting of me, given the last one they have on record is from 1981 and was done using Crayola.

My folks are very much into traditional style work, Rembrant, Frans Hals etc., so I want to try and do something that isn't going to look out of place colour-wise.

There's a detail shot here (http://www.ccir.ed.ac.uk/~nanderso/Self_Portrait_Detail.jpg).

By the way, does anyone know if there's anywhere that prints out digital work onto textured paper?

Nice piece.
I like the lighting and overall feeling. Except something is missing..try to add something on the bottom-left corner. Maybe paint a vague right hand. See how it will turn out.
By the way, you almost look like Napoleon

Haha, I wouldn't be surprised at all about the Napoleon thing as I'm a bit of a Bernard Cornwell (Sharpe) fan.

I just realised I forgot to put my glasses in...

batavia: Yeah, the whole composition seems a bit uneven. I was going to just crop the pic and take out some of the left side, but I might put a hand in or something.

nice...be careful though, in digital work, about large gradient areas or areas of solid color. You could get some ugly banding in the printout.
