View Full Version : AIR anybody?
I have recently tried AIR, a renderman compliant rendered that interface with maya through mayaman. In my raytracing tests ended up been 5 time faster that renderman 11.5. Anybody here has experience or commend on it?

I like the AIR renderer a lot. It has a really impressive feature set and I really love the extra tools it comes with, ie: VShade and AIR Control. It's probably my favorite RMan renderer. I've never been able to play with PRMan though so I can't say anything about that, or your speed tests. But AIR is very affordable, production proven and Scott Iverson is quick to respond to questions. I'll probably end up purchasing an educational license within the next few months.

We use AIR at our facility and even though it is quite good it also has a good deal of "issues". We havent been succesfull at getting displacements to look good,it is kind of slow if youtry to render very complex scenes. There are other issues that have come up but I dont remember them right now. Personaly I like 3delight a lot more, specially the price (its free). Mayaman doesnt quite "officialy" support it yet but you can get it to work if you need to
