Here's the dilio. I am working with Maya Subdivisons surfaces (not the poly connect method) and am wondering if there is any way to remove levels of detail.

For instance, I created a character and a portion of the arm to level 2. Is there anyway to remove what I dont need on level 2 back to level 1? I understand that "collapse" will make whichever level you specify your new level 0 and I also know that "clean topology" removes levels that have not been edited.

Anyone got information for me other then that? Those weren't really what I was looking to do. If you do, sa-weeet. If you don't... well... then... I didnt' want to talk to you anyway!

Peace.

In standard mode, go to the level you wish gone. Select the vert/edges/face and press delete. This will reset any edits you made for the selected components. Now do clean topology and they will be removed.

If after you remove your edits and do the clean topology the level is still there, then it's likely maya had to go to these levels to keep continuity. Most likely because of tri's, 5 sided polys, or other strange topology at a lower level. In this case you'll have to go to the base mesh and find what's causing this.

Anyhoo hope that helps you some
