Hey dudes. Im new here at the cgtalk. lol....dont even know the jargons etc...but soon will. Ive seen some really serious work n talk here so this forum looks perfect 2 me. Actually im a newbie gettin into this 3d stuff....n i love it. i also do some web designing ....(but thats just to generate some budget..:)). anyways so here is my PC....stupid n cheap. its an Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz with 256Mb Ram. so i wanna make it a little cool with a new video card. the prob is...i dont have a big budget for it. so what would you suggest for a $200. some nice 3d accelerator...(obviously not the game onez). but i know the workstation cards are way expensive...so suggest me one that can help me do good with Max 6. i mite also b upgrading the Ram too to 512 for now. so please suggest something good that can ease the workflow and shorten the render time in max6. (mental ray n stuff). currently i have the stupidest in the world mobo of Maze company....(i dunno if anyone has ever heard about it)with its stupid 32mb built in that cant even run some vdos finely.
HELP!

I recently upgraded my brother's system for $300 using most of the components of his old system. The $300 upgrade included the following:

Gigabyte KT600 Motherboard (you can easily do better than this)
512MB Corsair Value Select PC3200
Cooler Master Centurion Case
Athlon XP 2600+ Barton core

And as for a video card, I got myself a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis video card w/ 256MB RAM for approx. $100 from newegg. So in total, that's a $400 upgrade. Anyhow, that Radeon might not be totally the perfect thing for what you want to do, but it's probably a lot better than what you have now.
