THE STORY
In the world where forests cover most of the dry land there live little smart creatures. Having been suffering from land predators for a long time they started to climb high trees to set up their dwellings on branches and stems. This sudden improvement in the life of the nation caused the giant leap of technology. Little creatures have learnt about wood and ceramic materials and even more... they have found out how to enliven trees and control their movements and growing using different complex chemicals. From that moment they could not only make trees and plants to grow the desired way but to implant wooden and ceramic parts creating complex mechanic-organic structures including production works, mills, houses, lift cranes etc.
The attached concept illustrates the lift crane based on a sequoia-like tree 100 m high used for lifting goods from ground to the tree-city.
The concept is strictly schematic just to save time on concepts. I intend to develop most of the details during the modleing stage.

This screenshot shows the tree's basic geometry which will be refined later and also the final camera placement I've come to.
I got stuck with the idea of this tree mech stuff. The reason is that those gigantic levers on the concept sketch were too primitive and they were no implemented to the lifeform.
So finally I'd found the right way. Now the tree and those little dodgers live in some kind of symbiosis when the tree provides the source of energy in form of some inflammable juice and the creatures provide the tree with nutrition to live.
I know there's nothing to comment by now so I'll just keep working :)

So, here's what I call an energy exhange between trees and the creatures who live on them. As you can see there are pumps implemented into branches which are to extract the combustible juices and oils out of the tree and at the same time provide the tree with nutrition to let it grow. These juices and oils are to be used as fuel for all kinds of production works, heating etc.
I hope to get some critiques upon the idea cause I getting tired of isolation mode ;)))

A small update. I've refined the geometry and also created the far branch with a hole for the pump (you can already see the pipes).
Next I'll continue modeling that far branch creating some infrastructure i.e. transporatation, level pads and the pump itself.
Crits and comments are welcome!

Daily update.
I've decided to start modeling from the distant part to clear up the idea for myself. Supposingly if I started modeling the foreground first I could get stuck with on details without having a clear vision of my idea.
The wooden platform on the branch serves for maintenance of the fuel pupms. The next step is to model some more pipelines some t-joints, valves, fuel tanks (for gathering the tree juices) and the crowning element - the lift crane (yep, I love cranes) which is to transfer filled fuel tanks to over platforms.

:buttrock:
Very impressive and original concept !
keep it up !
I stay tuned !

Finally I have finished this crane 8)...
Really sad that I haven't modeled everything I'd planned. I hope by the next update I'll have the background modeling finished so I could start modeling the stem-attached-dwellings.
I suppose the whole scene will be middle-ages-like and those tree-houses will be fahwerk ones.
It may seem strange that these creatures in my concept have already invented some kind of combustion engine but who cares? ;)
harnelbe: thank you very much for comment... I'm really working hard (as you see I update daily). I intend to do as much as possible before examination period in my academy... unfortunately I am still a 'slow modler' that's why the progress is rather slow...

I've started working on the living space on this tree. As I mentioned earlier I plan this scene to be in medieval style and fahwerk to my mind could emphasize it.
This living space is half deepened into the tree flesh and half outside it. The inhabitants can get to another tree-based-facilities either thru the tunnels inside the tree or by using foot-bridges outside.
This particular structure will be for living purposes only. On final modeling stage I intend to create some kind of manufacture or factory (perhaps pottery as ceramics replaces steel in this world).
I'm very curious about rather small amount of comments and wondering either my work is uninteresting or bad or good or something ;)

I think its a very interesting and refreshing idea, and that it also looks quite promising. But the tree isnt exactly flesh  - but since it is a living organisme, it will hopefully be alright anyway. I really want to see where your going with this

Nice work vudu, Very Original Concept and the modell reflects all that very nicely, keep it up...keep going...

Finally got something to update with ;)
Tree house integrated to the stem with the bark covering part of the roof. The rest of the roof will be covered with ceramic tiles...

Added few more details to the upper part.

Идея дествительно на 5-рочку!!!!!!
Успеха в дальнейшем моделинге!!!! Времени все таки не так уж и многа осталось.......................
well, that idea is something really different from the others, but i'm not sure if it fits the challenge topic that well. i hope i'm wrong, 'cause its great so far! :D
keep it up!

Really great, cool and innovative concept! I really enjoy your hard working ;) I also hope this fits in the rules, so that I can vote you in my best 10 ;) :p
...so each comment I have I value as gold :)
Иван ::: да, время реально поджимает, к тому же скоро сессия и времени будет еще меньше... стараюсь, спасибо за поддержку, - а то когда нет комментов, начинаются сомнения ;)
cha ::: thanks a bunch. in fact I have knowingly developed an idea different from others... um... more character-oriented ones. since I haven't got much experience in 3d that was the good way of not getting lost among other entries. :D
and the second reason for such an idea is that I personally consider any mechanical alterations far-fetched and ungrounded. But I really wanted to participate so as you can see I found the way :)
Dutchman ::: thank you very much! that is really flattering. Artist needs food which is recognition :D
Regarding the challenge rules, - I have asked the mods in questions/issues thread about tree-using and I was told that it was ok untill it fited the guidelines... nevertheless I have a feeling that I'm always on the edge ;) I even had to change the conception (in my mind) several times...

Update finally. Not too much but still...
Comments please :)

:applause:
The idea is fantastic !
Perhaps you could deform a little bit the house to make it pushed a little by the growing tree(wall deformed... etc i like a lot what you have done with the moving tiles, because the house is in my opinion too much straight comparing to the fantastic shapes of your tree. Some branches or roots which could grow on the roof of the house could be Best.
But keep it up your Concept is very interesting ! Push it push it !!!
I stay tuned about updates!
hello vudu, your concept rocks man , is unique , all the details that you are puting there are great , i cant imagine the whole tree with all your plans . Keep going , i will follow closely your thread
Keep the good work

Added some twigs to make the tree look like actually like a tree. I've also started modeling the foreground.
2harnelbe: I know what you mean. The straight geometrical look of the house isn't good for me too. I will refine the framework and the fillers asap (deformations, cracks etc.)
2adr: At first I wanted to create a whole tree with such alterations but fortunately I limited myself to only a part of it ;)
The time really presses with less than 50 days left. Anyways I'm going to push and finish modeling by next weekend.
