Independent animation directed by Terrence Walker

Las Vegas, NV - July 04, 2002 - Studio ArtFX, Inc., creator of critically acclaimed independent animation titles, today announced the release of the U.S. anime title, Shadowskin - Valley of Time on DVD. This latest release from the studio, helmed by independent animator Terrence Walker, marks a break from the short film format of Understanding Chaos and their first forray into the Japanese style OVA (Original Video Animation) format. The DVD is available for order today at http://www.studioartfx.com for only $14.99US. A brand new trailer for this latest independent animation effort can be seen at:

Shadowskin follows the story of a man, known only as Patient X, who finds himself in possession of a seemingly miraculous suit of combat armor which the military seems more than willing to kill for. Alone and on the run, he must uncover the connection between his unknown past and his turbulent present, and he must discover the secret that binds his ancestry to a force known only as the Shadowskin. Different from Understanding Chaos, Shadowskin - Valley of Time is the first episode in a Japanese style OVA series. The feature presents high quality digital animation showcasing the merging of 2D digital cel and 3D computer graphics.

"I truely have got to say that it looks like much more than a one-man show," said PJ Foley, Vice President of Hot City Digital and former CGI director of Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles. "Really, it is no different than a production that took an entire crew to make."

"The film was so intense, I was shocked to learn it was completed by one man," spoke Kevin "Q" Quattro, a digital artist at Digital Domain. "For the second time StudioArtFX has proven one man can do it all without any help from the studios!"

That's pretty cool work...

One question, it mentions 'the merging of 2d digital cel & 3d computer graphics'... Wasn't most of this stuff done in LightWave, with selected components rendered out in 2d cel style?

But either way, still VERY cool...!

Judging from the date on the first post, so has this thread. ;)

Looks like RobertoOrtiz just wanted to point out the current sale on the Shadowskin DVD.
