Nice work! While I'm not the biggest of Hellboy fans, i think it looks pretty true to source. But I think you still can push this imagine even further to get a Ross-ian image out of it.
I just flipped through Batman: War On Crime and Shazam!: Power of Hope and noticed a few things that could help your image...
Ross uses pure white on faces very cautiously. This is were I think the image could be helped the most. By blowing out to pure white, you're not showing the detail we need to see (I think this is a staple of Ross' work).
Look here for examples:

Another thing of Ross' work that i see lacking here is style continuity. The bulges on the forehead looked as though they were rendered differently from the nose and part of the mouth that is lit. Show the brush strokes, but only very small ones. From afar, Ross' work looks very reall, but he always leaves small strokes shown (maybe to get away from a cg look?).
the background is interesting, but comes over the face. This kinda kills any sense of space for a background. Put it all the way in the back.
Most of Ross' eyes are crystal clear! They are almost always have hard edges (in hue and contrast), and are very readable. They convey lots of expression. You've set a nice mood for your piece, but since there's a little bit of a lack of detail in the eyes, it's hard to tell what emotion is being displayed. Since the piece is largely monochromatic, why not use some deep purples to deepen the shadows?
You've picked a really interesting idea, a great composition and have done some good work here. It just needs those iddy-bitty details to be fleshed out a bit more.
Keep it up!
