Hi,
this is a picture of a recent project. Modeled by photos and rendered in Lightwave (FPrime). Comments & critics welcome.
thanks

The modelling is good, but the texturing is so-so. It really needs depth, looks very flat. It has a monotone color as well, the shading doesn't seem right.

yes i agree with the above comments. hard to see where the lighting is coming from. might be nice to place a tree, or building off camera that throws a shadow onto the building. just a thought.

the result is bit too flat.......mayb because of the camera angle....if can put more texturing effort on it...it will be very nice rendering....cox the lighting is greast.....overall is quite realistic man..........GREAT
Thanks for the comments guys. As written there are some flaws, but I'll do another version on my own. with a different camera angle and a little more stuff in it. It was less than a day to complete everything, so the texturing was suffering a little bit :/
HV2: no, no HDRI at all. The reflection is a selfmade map. Lighting is oldschool with real lights. I will try in the next version a HDRI render.
shbazjinkens: you are right. The depth is kind of "problematic", because the customer wanted only the house without any other stuff. Maybe I'll do a re-render with my own seeing : )
Z1K0B4: The idea with the tree was in the first test rendering, but the customer complained that it doesn't exist in reality :(. I'll do a new version with new modeling of the left and the right house. The lighting coming from above. You see the shadow under the windowboards and under the roof. It was mainly a test for FPrime's ability with radiosity settings.
future14: yeah, the camera angle. I will play a little with it (together with the textures).
Keep the comments coming. Thanks.

I like the image over all but there are afew things that would crit. I studied architecture for about 4 year or so and the first I noticed is that the proportions are off. Looking at the front entry door and the hieght of it, tells me that the spacing between floors needs to be greater. Another thing is that the top of your windows on the bottom floor need to match the top of your entry door. There shouldn't be any variance between the two.
I agree with it being too flat, but I also feel as if we should be looking at it with more of an extreme angle. If the building is 5 stories tall, you should have to crank the neck back in order to see it all even if you're standing on the other side of the street.
Overall I like the lighting and the redner does look nice. If you just fixed the proportions it would look great.:applause:

Great so far just needs some fine tuning. I wish everyone kept their windows so clean:scream:
G
Harry,
the proportions should be right, because there is a stair behind the door (it's common in german houses). Overall I crosschecked it with the (bad) reference pictures and it should be right.
Conanart,
yeah "ze germans" are tidy ; ) Just kiddin' ... They wanted the clean look without any grit ... Will keep you informed with the new version ; )

good job.
A bit to clean. The proportions questionable, but you say it's like on the image. Looks good. Fixing the textures , perhaps adding dirt to the roof will add to the natural feeling what your customer didn't want.

Methinks the texture is absolutely okay, apart from the roof, this is somehow ruining the impression. Way too clean and... I dont`t know... looking like it`s glowing... the rest is convincing, reminds me of some areas in Hanover
Thanks for the comments.
Medusa, the problem is, this is an old house that was rebuilt and reconstructed, so almost everything is new. The client didn't want any dirt on a completely "new" house

PS: It's not Hannover, but Dresden :)

env is empty... and reflects on windows are very artifical. Add sth on the street... and some textures are to bight, and clean (windows for example...)
Independent of the the client, perhaps you should know introduce some changes. It looks to clean, the roof really doesn't belong there. I would make it more alive, by adding some dirt, changes in lighting, because it is too exposed at some areas, everywhere the same. But still not bad.
