View Full Version : Newbie render question
I'm starting with lightwave. How can i render as seen in the picture?
And i have a smooth object in modeler but when i open it in lw 3d it isn't smooth anymore...
(some stupid questions, i know)

Smooth in Modeler but not in Layout ?
Not really enough information for an informed solution, but maybe you are using Sub-Division surfaces (the TAB key) ? If so by default Modeler has a smoothing level of 6, whereas Layout has a default level of 3. If this is the case go to the render tab, then the geometry sub-tab and increase the sub-division level.
If this isn't the right answer, then you might need to give a bit more information.
As for the render. It looks like radiosity was used, but if you are just starting off I would suggest doing a search on "3 point lighting", start with the basics and it will improve your advanced techniques later on.

Z,
I would also go into the Surface Editor for all surfaces of your object and make sure that the Smoothing check-box is checked. (If, indeed, you want it smoothed.) You can also play with the Max Smoothing Angle (default 89.5) so maintain some sharp edges if you still want some sharp edges. Then compare Modeller vs. Layout. Should look better. I hope. :)
