View Full Version : game character advice
Darrell Croswell 07-07-2002, 11:44 PM hey,
this is my first attempt at creating a low res model for a game. i usually do high rez stuff, so this is rather tricky. I am finding it very fun, but need some guidance.
i am going to texture this fellow tonite, but need to know if the model is very good. I have posted the character design too so you can see that he is supposed to be a wrestler.

not bad for a first try, keep it up =)
You have way too many polygons in hands. I would also suggest looking up anatomy, and getting reference pictures of the human body. You also have weird geometry in the central portion of the body, and some weird polies that arent needed. Good job so far :)

No offense, but I think you need to take a closer look at anatomy. There are some issues with your characters' pelvis. It looks as if it is indented. Also, the overall structure of the wireframe could use some work. You want to concentrate on subdivisions around the knees, groin, shoulders, elbows, head, etc. But when you divide it, there is no need to have vertical divisions. At least not where you have them. Especially considering that the way you have the divisions now, you're creating five-sided poly's. Which will make for even more sloppiness when you triangulate the mesh. Also, you should concentrate more detail on the face. When doing low-poly characters, there are two things you should focus most of your poly count. That is on the face and on the hands. I hope this is of some help....good luck.
