I use the hard 20 for fill in. 23 hard to paint..and 23 soft to airbrush. ..the others are there just in case I need them..it just seemed natural to create them with the rest.

Looks amazing Shawn. I love the details in the skin. Nice and soft feeling.....

The metal stuff looks great too. Much props. I couldn't imagine having the patience to do all those paths and stuff. From what I've seen in the 2D stuff, this entry is my favorite. Good luck my friend!

The idea is that mass produced sentient robots began to have problems with their personal identity and became obsessed with their vanity. They were fascinated by the individuality of humans...and started to remove unique areas of flesh from people to attach to there own bodies to help establish some sort of twisted independence. This is a commissioned digital portrait done for one of those robots.

Hey Shawn,

It's your old pal Phil:)

This is rendered exquisitely and I love the color palette. The story behind it is definitely a nice touch.

You are having some perspective issues as in certain areas, especially on the right hand side of her shoulders. the right shoulder looks as if its pushed down below where the collar bone line would be. That metal V crossing across her chest is lifting off of her a bit too ....and I think that has a bit to do with your lighting. Personally, I would've toned down the contrast on the shoulder area in genral to draw the eye towards the focal point.

All in all a beautiful piece....I'd love to see you do more of these, as does the CG Networks public:) Good luck with the competition.

Phil

Hey Shawn

I've gotta agree with some of these other posts. All the preparation and organisation has definitely payed off. It's a beautiful clean image with some lovely details.

Good luck with the voting (no worries for you there!!) and the judging...

I'm sure we'll 'see' each other around on the boards... and feel free to send me a PM with some more feedback on my monkeys (i'm probably gonna keep working on the story so any crits would be welcome!!)

It's been fun...

I looked it up in the FAQ, The rating

"I believe this is due to invalid permission settings in the upgrade from VB2 to VB3. Official voting has not begun. The thread ratings will not be considered when doing the final judging. But if you want to go add a star rating, go ahead. You can use the Rate Thread drop down to the top right of the thread.

Leo"

"The public voting can only start over a week after the FTP deadline as we have to download and collate all the entries. This takes time and human resources. You can safely expect the public voting to only begin on or after the week of 5th July."

-Alex.

Whad' up Phil!.. good to see you on the thread... good lookin' out on the crit...I meant to have the collar designed over the shoulder line... but ..I see what you are talking about on the right.. I noticed it at the drawing stage.. but decided to move past it...to color ..time was getting tight...and the 3 attemps to fix it didn't work...I needed to step away from it for a day... but dove into color instead...I could of ussed that comment a week ago.. It would have made me go back in and fix it. ...So have you adjusted to beautiful sunny florida lifestyle yet?... well you are ..living in Orlando...so it isn't quit the same.... no beach...and all 98% tourists... opposed to 60% in season..

I wish I was back there... I miss having a tan and throwing frisbee.. all weekend on the beach.

wow! you really pulled this on off. It is a shame it looks so different on my monitor. I hope other people have monitors with the contrast and detail as you do at home.. it looks so much different from your computer. good luck on the votes .. it would be cool to see what you could do on a cintique.

Damn....did it again.... posting to my own thread... I can be such a dumb ass!

If anyone is still out there checking these......and was part of a challenge before.
How do the images get posted for voting. There was a strategy to keeping yourself on the front page as you posted images dailey.. but I wonder if it will be possible to place yourself near the beginning every once in a while...so there is a chance your image will be seen and voted on... It would suck if I was on page 10.. and never got a vote..because people get bored after digging through the first 4 pages. Any one have any ideas?

I recall this being somewhat of an issue last time around because clearly those who were on top of the heap stood to get more votes. I think it may have went to a dynamic rotation system so that every entry had a chance to be on top as it were.

The voting should be fair of course and I doubt that you wouldn't get any votes.. FYI last time around I went through every single entry.. this time around it may be a challenge to do so! Although I think before the public vote starts all the incomplete entries are filtered out and there is a large number of those.

I like what you decided on as your final image, but man, this is crazy. I didn't actually look into your first character's story until just recently after the voting, and, granted, although the machine/humans are different and the process is still different it is similar enough to my concept to be weird. Anywho, Beautifully crafted and you seem to have a consistant work style that works very well for you. BTW, it was interesting to read how you work, it's a more efficient version of the theory behind my steps. Although I'm probably just confused by the steps of all the different mediums and the way they work that I have been taught lol. Anywho GREAT job, A lot of time went into this, and I hope to see you around in more challenges.
Btw, I found you just fine in the ftp/vote area - and there arn't so many finals as there are threads. Also, it all is pretty organized by name and entry type and what not.
