View Full Version : Animation Frames
Moon47 03-22-2004, 03:20 PM Still having problems with the speed of my animation.
I have the fps under the rendering options->qt movie options-> set to 8 fps...
I also have the frames per second setting under the general options set to 5...
Still the 60 frame movie lasts but a few seconds...
LW 7.5 in os 10.3.2
:hmm:

I'm missing your point. You have animation what is 60 frames long, right?
You wish render it at 8fr per second? Don't know why, but anyway. So you wish have animation 7.5 second long?
Check out in LW what a frames per second you set. Press "o". There needs to be 8frames per second. If you not sure you could change in "frame slider label" for "Time in seconds". Render it. Still faster than 7.5 second? I'm sure not. If yes, you have problem with QT. I do not use OSX 10. But on OS9 and Windows works fine.
Hope it fix your problem.

I suggest donīt touch the fps of your qt movie options. Only the frames per second of LW general options; for default (normal speed) this is between the 24-30 frames per second, if you want that everything goes slower, you increase the fps; if you want that everything goes quicker, you diminish it.

Please tell us:
1) How long do you want your animation to be?
2) How many fps do you wish to have?
Also, as repeated ad nauseum here, you should always render sequences instead of movie files (ie.- .mov, .avi, etc.). I would only render a quicktime if it was for a quick test, not a final.
Oh yeah - nice to see another Mac user here.

The way i understand it the more frames in a second the faster the animation will run...
The less frames that display per second the slower the animation will play...
I have tried everything and i am afraid that this is a problem of communication between LW and QT as to how many fps the final should have...
It seems that no matter how many or few i set the frames per second to in LW the movie will display only the default fps witch i suppose is 20-30...
:hmm:
I rendered an anim in 5 and 60 fps...
No change...
My guess is that LW is not completely optimized for the os x architecture or visa versa... =[
I.E. Jumping problems ect...

If you run your animation for example to 30 fps (in QT), and in LW you have the fps at 120, you animation will last now 4 more times; you don't need to change the fps of the QT, stiller, as Zarathustra told you, save your images as sequence, don't as video. What happens to the LW fps, is that isnīt to specify to how many pictures the animation will run, but to how many pictures will be generated.

Nope you wrong. FPS mean how smooth your animation will run, not how long in sec. will be.
Set up your LW by this. There is no reason why it doesn't work after that.

Your timeline should looks like that
You see. Your animation is 12sec long. 5FPS so that's mean LW will render 60 frames.
