Dare I say it, but it looks like Jar-Jar crossed with a donkey! :p
I like the design! Nice goofy look on it's face.

Meesa sorry, but mmm meesa thinking dat a really huge-o load for little meesa to be carrieing upn and down themsa hills.

LOL sorry man I had to do that. It definetly has a Jar-Jar feel to it right now.

DKScully
07-08-2002, 06:11 AM
Yeah, you're right, I didn't realize it was like a jar-jar... The body will make it different... I try...

:-)

07-08-2002, 08:07 AM
I don't imagine you'll have a problem with him looking like Jar-Jar once you get the body modeled. One good reason for that is that Jar-Jar is humanoid and we can't do them for this challenge ;) hehehe

I have in mind a body like a kangaroo.... more or less.

How and what is he going to haul?

About your model, I like the head and the legs (I suppose the feet are in progress). But it seems the abs are too small and too "sharp".

DKScully
07-09-2002, 06:42 PM
I fixed the abd.... I'm going for the feet now...

And he is going to haul... JEJEJE Surpriseee Surprise... :)

I have an idea of how he is going to haul... but... not what....HE

Really really nice modeling so far.

reminds me of the donkey of Shrek/Jar Jar mutation.

It seems to me that most of the spanish artists in here are very skillful and have some pretty original ideas.

Anyways keep up the good work. and hey what package you using ???

DKScully
07-10-2002, 06:17 AM

wow nice design and modeling, i love it

but what is it with the "cargo" now ;)

ZrO-1
07-11-2002, 09:58 PM
Awesome design of the backpack. I really like how you lashed all the poles together with rope. Very funny "homage" to siggraph with the teapot.

I really like his pose for the pulling.

Only crit is that I think he really needs arms.

Personalmente la cabeza se me hace desproporcionada,
pero esta muy bien modelado

Great Design.... IMO the head is to big, but great modeling.

07-12-2002, 03:36 PM
I hate teapots.

JFrench
07-12-2002, 03:37 PM
This competition is all about the modeling.......why would you ever use the default max teapot....

DKScully
07-12-2002, 03:40 PM
Ok, I didn't mean to hurt people sensibility....

Teapot is just a reference for possing the character... to show how he is going to haul cargo

ZrO-1
07-12-2002, 04:42 PM
@ Are3d and JFrench: are you guys reading the thread or just looking at the pictures? :p  If you read this you'll see that it's a nod at siggraph, meant to be funny to people who know those sorts of things :D LOL.

rok
07-14-2002, 12:49 PM
actually I think you should keep the teapot - In it´s own way it´s quite original

erilaz
07-14-2002, 01:04 PM
The teapot is the architype of all 3d. It is the single-celled amoeba/polygon that grew into the organism of high level modelling we all know. It is the ultimate beginning. It is the alpha and the omega...

It holds tea. :p

Personally, I think the scene looks great! Great spin on an old tradition.

Thank you very much. I've to work and learn more to get a better character.... But It's a start....

Do you have any idea for the cargo?... I've some but not time.. I'll try this week...

:-)

rok
07-19-2002, 09:02 PM
As I said earlier just keep the teapot and put the details into the character. Don´t worry about the cargo, the teapot is just as good as anything else displayed in this comp. You´ve already showed your modellng skills in the donkey and as Zro-1 stated most of us know where it´s coming from. Hope to see more updates....soon

A nuew pair of arms for him.. But.. may be they looks too human?... I'll fix hands and pose him with a cargo... and then may be will be more beast like...

:-) What do you think?????

thank for all your kind words... They make me work a little more every day... and learn... learn learn...

ZrO-1
07-20-2002, 12:54 AM
The modeling is looking great. I love all the little details. I think the new arms are definetly too humanoid. But the beast looks cool overall.

07-20-2002, 02:38 AM
pretty unbelievable that i missed this thread! great work so far!:buttrock:

rok
07-20-2002, 08:22 AM
Too humanoid ´(I´ve never been called that :p ) and somehow I don´t agree. Does a beast need fangs´n shit ? - don´t think so. It could have a beastly personality which you then would have to illustrate through his (the donkeys) facial expression.
I think that you should put some bumpmaps on him/her to show some scratches and wear´n tear - I know that it´s a WIP though.

Otherwise you could but some replacement parts on him. Put a mechanoid arm or something else on him.

If you decide to keep the teapot, which I hope you do, be aware that there´s the line between being original and just being plain old kliché is hairthin.

Otherwise super modelling - keep rocking dem polys.

DKScully
07-20-2002, 09:47 AM
Thank you, this help me moreee and moree...

GReat idea Bump maps... The wire in the arms is not very good... I'll try to fix it if I had time.... I'll put some bump maps and some elements more: Harness, Emblem, some more little things...

I'll fix hands a little more too.... :)

May be you could see an animation soon... or not soon...

Thaaaaaankssssssss

rok
07-20-2002, 10:26 AM
Wires in the arms ??? Do you mean veins, muscles etc...?
If so I think you should forget about it. Ok you could add a little. But I don´t think that yor character lends itself to adding tons of little details - it´s too cartoonish. That´s actually a compliment in these photorealistic days. Doesn´t he look a little too pleased and relaxed considering he´s dragging a teapot that big???

Well its your model - just sharing my thoughts on it ok?

What about the cargo ? have you made up your mind.

My advice would be to be careful not to start rigging/animating before your model is (almost) done - actually that´s just a waste of time in an image competition - right?

update.....................now :buttrock:

DKScully
07-20-2002, 10:38 AM
Yes you're right... I'll finished it before rigging... :-)

I say wire (the Wireframe, the polys... are not very regular...) It's not very good in the arms... not ordened... Do you understand? my english it's not very good ;-(((( I supouse It's doesn't mater at this time...

And you're right, the pose it's too relax right now.. that's whay I want to rigg it, to pose and make it tired... or tension.. :-))) (Grrrrr I can't express myself :-))))))

I hope you understand me ;))))

I'll make some facila expresions too.... to give it more life...

Thanks Anyway... Don't be shy and tel me everythig you want or you think... I like it... C&C... Good for learning...

:-)

rok
07-20-2002, 11:03 AM
Everything you said makes perfect sense. As english is my secondary language too, I was thinking in other terms when you said wires - my fault.

DKScully
07-20-2002, 11:10 AM
:-) That's Ok... :-) you are helping me a lot with you commentaries... :-)

DKScully
07-21-2002, 03:00 PM
Hi, I think I've almost finished the character model.. Now I'll pose it with cargo and render final... What do you think?

Bezerker75
07-21-2002, 04:07 PM
first time I saw this post...looking real niec...great modeling job!!
the only crit I have thus far is that the ears seem to be attatched really low on the head...maybe just move them up a bit!! can't wait to see him posed with his cargo!

rok
07-21-2002, 08:25 PM
Yeah I agree with the ear issue.

Can´t wait to see if you´ve kept the teapot:)

DKScully
07-22-2002, 12:10 AM
Well, they are not ears.... they're ponytails... :-))))))) But may be you're right they could be higher on the head... I think I'll keep like they're now... I've not time¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ HEHEHEHe

Would I keep the teapot????????? With wheels??? HEHEHEH

ZrO-1
07-22-2002, 02:30 AM
Yo DK, the model looks great all detailed up. The harness is really cool as well.
I thought those were it's ears also. I think if they ar pony-tails they need to be moved back on the head, and up a little. Right now they are right where I would imagine the ears would be.

JJ3d
07-24-2002, 09:22 PM
Really nice work !!
:buttrock:

rok
07-24-2002, 11:33 PM
he he he. If it´s ponytail I want ´em forward and down. If it´s the ears I would like them put back and up a little - confused

Actually I think it´s just the opposite of the current model...Lookink really sweet though - and you know I love the teapot. nice work...again

DKScully
07-31-2002, 12:30 AM
This is an update.... I'm going on holidays so I won't do many things more... :-(

rok
07-31-2002, 10:28 PM
Where are you going ???

I think that your image is near perfect.
Facial expressions really gives the impression of a heavy burden

Lighting setup is neat and I notice that you kept the chrome teapot eventhough textures will not be judged - great..

I thought that you´d abandoned your model as updates where a little slow in the end but was it worth the wait ????
Hell yeah:buttrock:

DKScully
08-01-2002, 12:36 AM
Thank you... I love to read your comments.... I'm going to Ireland on holidays... So I'll be off OFF OFFFFFF... I'll be back¡¡¡

here's a new render of the same thing...

Again, thank you... I have a lot of things to do and to learn...
