This one's dedicated to my good friend Kuzey who'd probably take a concept like this and turn it into something spectacular...

The Little Engine that Could...

I tried to sketch a critter, big, beastly, fantasy ox...

and every drawing I did SUCKED! :D

My Friend Kuzey, who I mentioned in my first post, is really an expert on this type of modelling. He modeled a few of "The Wacky Racers" cars, remember that cartoon? Including Dick Dastardly's... he's kind of my inspiration for cartoon art.

Kuzey is a Lightwave Modeller from Australia who I know from another forum... he's one heck of an artist, and he should be posting his work here :D

I'm still trying to convince him...

Hey Grey.... you are the 3D Engine that could.... :D

Seriously... you have just blown a giagantic hole in the theory that one must be able to draw it to model it... haha... Great job here Grey... yuppers... :D

ug that fifty K limit is annoying sometimes...

here's an update... the cars may or may not remain. It was mainly about figuring placement and how easily they go onto the track.

i don't think it looks "beast" like enough to really be in this challlenge... i don't mean to sound like an ass, but its a train, not a creature... maybe give it eyes or something, or some cartoon-like deformations to it.

it's a character :D

and it's a work in progress :D

I'll get to the expressions later.

keep your panti-hose on :D

How will your beast look like.

And if you have a personal webspace you can upload you own pic and use this for your own thread in the messageboard

But give your train more detail.

Excuse my ignorance, but I was trying to work out the the modelling package you're using from that screen grab. What da heck is that?

I'm guessing lightwave, but I've never seen it set up like that before.

I'm starting it off in Rhino.

I'll probably do some of the face characterization in Cinema4D using Subdivision after it's meshed.

Still quite a bit of work to do in Rhino first, however.

I only started work on this this morning, it's now 3pm by my clock...

a few more details...

need to work out the trucks and couplings still (hoping that will suffice for the harness requirement)...
