With all of the time comparisons to LW's renderer I'm surprised there isn't a clock.

How are you guys getting precise times for your test renders?

I use the clock on my computer.

gee, why didn't I think of that? and here I have this big-ass hourglass...

funny, smartass

So how do you adjust the clock to get seconds? Mine only does hours and minutes (for PC)

Double click on the clock in the system tray bar and a new window ( Date and Time Properties ) should pop up which shows a calendar, analog clock and a digital clock including seconds.

thanks, ghopper :)

On a Mac I could set it to display seconds in the menu bar...didn't know if I could do it on a PC

Send a feature request, I'm sure a clock wouldn't take much to achieve.

It might not take much effort, but it would add clutter to the GUI. I know Steve wants to keep this to a minimum so I can't see him adding in a feature that has little use other than benchmarking. Part of the idea behind FPrime is you let it cook till it's ready, so it doesn't make much difference if that is 10 seconds or 10 hours, so why stick a clock in there ?

Well if you change your surface or lighting etc at least you know how long roughly it will take to "re-cook" to your desired result. Especially for print resolution of > 3000 pixels

..but if you change your surface or lighting that could radically change how long it will take to reach the same level of refinement, so the previous clock reading would be meaningless :)

Adding in something that already exists on your computer is just a waste of GUI space.....and more importantly Steve's programming time when he could be working on something far more important and useful like network rendering

...or dual processor support
