yes I am a newer in Character studio, for i always use max's bone before.here is a problem, when I move the arm or the leg,the mucle will go "back",it seems too "soft" as an arm without bone. For example as the picture I show, how to make the mucle go in its correct way?

i guess you use physique to skin your character. seems like your weighting is not right. the influences might overlap on some bones.
check the envelopes and the bulge angle deformer. if you don't like physique (i'm one of them) you could give the skin modifier a try (use joint/morph angle deformer on the elbow)

act gets completely rid of this,... it gives you muscle simulation, but this is more advanced and the setup time rises :) its also quite expensive ;(

If you're using physique, just look for the envelopes option on the right side. Then they will come up as spheres of influence. Make them tighter. It will take some tweaking.

Hello ,
Here it is a little tip to help solving your problem.
->in Physique go into the LINK submenu.
->on your model select the link of the upperarm (not the forearm)
->then in the link submenu , tweek the tension and the bias parameters.

complete your rigging by tipping weights on vertices.

Physique is not easy to learn but really powerfull.
Editable mesh + meshsmooth +Physique = you get what you want (with little pain and experience :))

Bye.
