Machineflesh 2D Challenge Entry: H. David Daniels

This will be my first time posting on the CGTalk boards. I've been a silent member, but I couldn't resist this contest.

My concept will be a Dominatrix of the future in a Utopian society. The society she caters to has become bored and decadent due to the perfection they have obtained and so they seek out forms of escape. This particular dominatrix I intend to design and illustrate will cater to the giving of pain through the use of technology. Instead of piercings there will be cyber-grafts. Her victims will be kept alive by machines and brought to the highest levels of torment.

Well, I will be working on an initial sketch this weekend. I've just signed up this Saturday night. I hope that I can do this great forum and group of artists justice.

This is my first initial sketch, just trying to get a direction. I doubt the final dominatrix will look like this. I want to go darker, more twisted, but this at least gives me something to go from. I will concentrate more on the body and head as a whole next.

She will have a modular body able to adapt to the individual needs of her clients who come to the dominatrix for new heights of pain.

I think this is going to be the final look of her head. I decided to go a bit more for beauty in the cruelty of her.

The scene I'm planning with her is she will be over looking a submissive pet at her feet who will be in both pain and pleasure at the whims of the dominatrix's machines.

I'm really enjoying this and it being my first entry on the boards. Its a nice break from my regular graphic design and freelance work.

Thanks Blood and Creativer, hoping to post some more sketches that detail the direction of her body next. I'm doing a lot of arm and leg studies. I'll try and put something up tonight. I also want to get a lot into her environment as well, machines of torment and pleasure. Lots of work to do, glad this contest goes into June!

As I keep drawing this, Trent Reznor's words keep coming to my mind: "Bow down before the one you serve, you're going to get what you deserve..."

Completed her body. The chair she is seated in will allow her to hover around her torture chambers. She will be fully plugged into all of her devices of pleasure and pain.

Anatomically I think some of her proportions are just a bit too exagerated, specifically her waist and small head. I think if you reigned it in toward reality just a bit your peice would have more wieght and authority.

Although I don't know what you have planned for a final image, I would suggest having her head turned toward the camera and paint your best 'come hither' expression for a really seductive look.

Thanks Blackarts. You are absolutely right about the head being too small, especially on the last pic I put up. I'm redoing her head anyhow cause I want to add some things. I'm also going to shorten and correct her neck some. I'm not sure if I can turn the head toward the viewer cause I'm planning to have a slave kneeling at her foot licking her heel. As far as her waist goes though, I want to keep it narrow pretty narrow. I'm going for the fetish corset look and I wanted it to be extreme. I like her boots and the style of the drawing... I'm a fan of distortion of body parts. But I do feel like there are way too many naked(or half naked) females in this challenge.

Modified her head some more. I haven't been able to do much this last week, but I am hopeing to finish the lineart by this weekend.

The background story is cool, but i think you need to be careful that it doesn't look too much like torture because people still do it for the kick, not to end in hospital. Even though it looks unpleasantly painfull now and then ;)

It seems you're influenced by the stereotype of the BDSM dominatrix, there are a lot of cliches coming with that, such a slaves licking boots but why would she need implants for that. Maybe you need to find some clear other uses for the implants :)

The boots she wears in the pic where she sits are slave boots btw, since you can't possibly walk in them. Dominatrixes usually seem to go for high boots with high heels.

Other than that, she looks cool and i like the way the metal parts fit the body :)

Thanks for your comments. I may change my idea completely. I was watching some tv today and saw a documentary on all the things that go on in setting up these mega concerts for the really huge music stars, like Madonna, Brittany Spears, U2, etc.

Well I got to thinking about doing the idea of a music performer enhanced by machines who is a symphony unto themselves. I'm going to draw some ideas for this tonight so I may drop this idea altogether.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, let me know. Or would everyone perfer I continue the dominatrix idea?

I decided to stick with the dominatrix idea. Here's the final look of the dominatrix with a slave. I'm intending to draw two other tormented pets in the scene along with a background of her torture chamber.

Here's a detail of the dominatrix's first pet, a ponygirl of sorts. She can be forced to walk like a remote control toy and forced into various positions as the dominatrix sees fit for her. The slave's spin has been modified to stretch and will be exposed inside the tube for various levels of pain enduced.

Theuni: Yeah I want to go for elements of pain. Flesh tormented and molded by machine.

Fadao: I'm working yet on another version of the dominatrix. I can't make up my mind. I'm reworking her legs and trying to make her a little more meanacing.

Jawine: I agree about the dominatrix's shoes, in my new drawing I'm working on I'm going to go for some extreme platform boots.
