View Full Version : Game Art Comp #6: Ben Stiller / Zoolander

I'm going to model male model Derek Zoolander.
I'm quite swamped with work, hopefully that will slow down a bit so I can finish this comp, no guarantees.
I haven't decided which of his many outfits he will be modeling most likely one of the suits, but one thing is for sure that I will be trying to acheive the look of "Blue Steel" I was thinking about "Magnum", but I don't think it will be ready for the competition deadline.
It's a walk off...it's a walk off.

Don't do it for the prize. Do it for the children who can't read very good.

My friend Mondo has just entered the walk off and is going to be doing Mugatu.
This should be interesting as Mugatu (Mondo) and Derek (dudeguy) have never worked together before.

This should be sweet.

My rough start on Zoolander (a few hours in). Just thought I would point out that most of my experience consists of making high res sets and props, this is one of my few attempts at a game design character, so a little different, but a lot of fun!
I know this is very early, but I would appreciate any feedback, critiques, suggestions, ideas you have. I would like to try and get the geo as close to resemblance as possible before I texture him. Some of my main concerns are...
How is the flow of my radial lines?
How is the anatomy? proportions?
Getting Blue Steel to look right.
and the main reference I'm going from, I know I know, this is Zoolander's Magnum look and that his head is tilted down a bit, I'll probably end up tilting his face to straight forward position and change the look to Blue Steel.
You think you're too cool for school, well I got a news flash for you Walter Cronkite......you aren't.

Looking at this pics myself, I can see that his jaw line needs some attention, more squared off, clean up the flow of lines too...
