Well, thanks so much, Russel. I do appreciate the vote of confidence! However, there is definitely some stiff competition out there so I need to be on my toes.
Thanks again!

MachineFlesh 2D Project.
My idea for this started with the memory of some sketches I had done a couple years ago where I was trying to imagine an aging King or Emperor using magic or technology to create a giant, living armature that would take the place of his body (kind of like Krang from TMNT).
At the time I struggled to come up with a good solution, so I decided to revisit it for this project. After only a couple of sketches, I think I have a good solution this time.
Here is a little story to give the character some background:
King Zemedus Malforius
Zemedus was briefly the King of Tantuhra during a time known as the Grave Era, when Tantuhra was being ravaged by a deadly air-born plague known as “The Sick”. This era was also significant because of its lack of order. The people of Tantuhra were so miserable and impoverished, that they often resorted to looting and killing in order to survive.
Zemedus became King when his father, King Luskin Malforius, died of the plague which he likely caught at a brothel that he frequented. Luskin was known for being generally unconcerned with affairs of state, so a young Zemedus was ill-prepared for the task at hand.
Zemedus ruled poorly, and was never taken very seriously, despite his genuine efforts to try to change the course of his country and enforce the laws. After 15 years of disappointment and a looming threat of revolt, Zemedus began to study the tactics of successful leaders throughout history. He finally concluded that the most successful rulers and leaders throughout history had 2 very distinct characteristics: They were all very tall, formidable men (Zemedeus was not, he was short and somewhat awkward), AND, they were looked up to like they were Gods.
So Zemedus decided to hire the best Engineers the coffers could afford from the city of Gateway to come to Tantuhra and remake his body into a God-Like form. The result was a 25-foot steam-belching monstrosity. Zemedus was sure that the people would believe that he had indeed become a God.
But exactly the opposite was true, most of the citizens of Tantuhra, even those closest and most loyal to him, thought he had gone completely mad, as indeed he had. Many even laughed privately that the thing looked disturbingly phallic. His body was now permanently grafted to a giant steam-powered machine which was awkward, noisey, and too tall for most of the rooms in the Royal Palace. Zemedus had to have a completely new building added to the Palace to account for his new-found height.
Zemedus also found the tall armature to be a distinct advantage over the air-borne plague, he no longer had to talk to anyone face to face and worry about covering his mouth and nose with a handkerchief, as most people did during the plague years.
Many other people, however, were angry that the King had spent so much money on something so obviously wasteful.... the threat of revolt loomed even larger now. But Zemedus ignored the criticism, he was still convinced that the people were in awe of him.
After only about 6 months in his new form, the gigantic King Zemedus met an ignominious death: While attempting to perform the annual Slaughtering of the Holiday Boar, Zemedus’ unwieldy mechanical right arm swung the Ceremonial Axe a bit wide and chopped into his unwieldy mechanical left arm, which severed a tube which began to gush oil. Hysteria broke out as several Ceremony attendees were covered in black oil, which resulted in a table being knocked over. The table had several Cermonial candles on it, which quickly ignited the oil and sent King Zemedus up in flames. Onlookers who saw the chaotic event from outside of the courtyard were said to have laughed and cheered at the site of their Megalomaniacal-To-The-Extreme-King explode into many pieces.

I am new to the site, still roaming the halls, looking around. This piece was eye catching as a thumbnail, and the final "full size" version is simply wonderful. It is a great representation of the theme, and the proportions of the machine are very dimensional. I also appreciate the details that make it more "human." Very, VERY well done!

this would make look kewl in 3-d. I like the take on the robot suit. its not your average clunky anime mech that you see all the time. Its nice to see sometin differwent.
