Welding points, is not my cup of tea I suppose. At least it does not tend to be such a simple task for me... I am a max novice and am working on my fist humanoid model... I know that brings back memories for some of you, but I need some help. I am trying to weld the points of the humans arm to his torso and every time I get the error message "no vertices within weld threshold"... so I figured I need to get the vertices closer together and increase the threshold but even when I crank it up to 100 it does not weld the vertices...

just to clarify a little... i can get the points to weld to one another only when its the same object... is there a special way to combine objects (not "grouping" i sure, because that's what i am doing) that is needed to weld vertices?

Shen, you should first "Attach" your 2 parts, then use "Snap" at the vertex level, move the vertices so they snap to the desired second vertex, then weld vertices. if you have questions about snap or attach, hit f1 while max is running.

Yup, you have to attach the objects first but... try and use collapse. There's no threshold. Just select the vertices that you want to weld into one and hit collapse.

I only use weld vertices when I'm attaching two sides of a model... works like a charm. Oh and if you do that select all the vertices that go down the middle of the two objects and Non-Uniform scale in whichever is the side axis (axis depends on the orientation of your model). That way you dont have to go through all the vertices and snap them.
