Hello

I am working for a realtime architecturale simulation company.
All the projects we made were rendered using MAX5. We are using radiosity and render to texture exported to an inhouse 3D engine.
But for a specific command, I have to realize a very high quality lighting for a realtime model. So, I am thinking about having another renderer effectively linkable to 3DS MAX5 or 6 .
Mental ray, RenderMan, AIR, Final Render, Vray, no matter The most important thing is to have the ability to bake the rendering into the textures.

If someone use this kind of workflow for videogame or anything else, can he answer me or direct me toward a company which can do that kind of work

thanks

I know Mental Ray can bake, I use it in Maya.
Althought the quality is exceptional with this renderer, it's controls are not nature like. You don't even have exposure control. Everything is relative, so I found it not apropriate for physical simulations unless you know well the software and nature.
You posted this question a while ago, had you any progress in your quest? Please, let me know. I'm trying to evaluate my next house project physically acurate.

as far as i know mental ray can't bake in max, vray((bake3d))and final render can, as for the rest of renderer i didn't use it.
anyway i doubt that you find any real difference between them and max radiosity.
there is also a plugin kaledra http://www.turbosquid.com/HTMLClient/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/202478/intType/7/stgCHSource/Feature

It's a shame. I use it extensively in Maya for games.
But Lamice, do you know which is the more realistic renderer dealing with light bouncing? As I said MR is so mathematical. I heard that MAX standart radiosity have those photometric lights, but I only have MAX 3.1 here for now, have the materials been upgraded also to be physically accurate? Is it easy to use?

hi ivankio , as for radiosity Combining it with photometric lights +
the architectural material ((max 6)) and you have really great quality, the best for me.
as for mental ray it's really great but needs lots of good tweaks to get the desired result.
