Is there a way to save renders' rendered in the viewport besides print screen?

Hi...

You need to click on the 'edit render settings' icon and then click on the 'save' tab. Here you will find all the options for specifying output format and location.

When you have done this you will need to select 'render to picture viewer' in order to save your output.

depending on what it is you want - I'm wondering if the small checkbox under the thumbnail in the render setup dialog>general tab will do the trick.

check "render as editor" and your picture viewer renders will look just like the editor (wireframes, ground plane, boundingboxes, etc.)

i don't know about InTheCity but i somehow got the habit to just hit Ctrl+R instead of crawling through the Render Manager. Sometimes even for the final render :)

The reasons;

I have a huge scene which is taking forever to render at 1024 x 768..

If I undock the viewport, blow it to full screen, I get maybe 3 x quicker results.

'Print Screen' is not capturing the full detail of the render.

Now that is a bit crazy! You could lose your render so easily just by clicking in the wrong place. The picture viewer will store the last render. Just click the render to picture viewer icon.. If you don't want to save each time you do that just uncheck save image in the render settings.

I would like the option to save a render made in a viewport however as I also just use a screen grab. But I never render anything important that way.

Of course, there's the 10comm plugin set , which has the "Grab last rendering" command in the Picture Spotter plug.......:)

The view port is rendering faster? Thats doesn't sound right to me. If it is its not rendering ad the right Level of detail. If thats the case you can control the level of detail for the picture viewer output too.

Odd. My level of detail is always set to 100.

What's the story with 'Output' rendering and the 'Preparing Status'?

My understanding of it is that in order for Cinema to render your final file. It has to Load the scene into memory so that it can be rendered; hence the long 'preparing' message with large files.

That would make sense to me as I can close my files once rendering has began.

If that's the case, the viewport renders are quicker because they're already loaded into memory. Right?

Do you have a hypernurbs in the Scene? When you render in the viewport it will use the editor subdivision, the image renderer will use the renderer setting.
The subdivision for the renderer is higher in the default settings, so it will take longer, because there are 4x the polys.

May it's the same thing with some other stuff too (Other Nurbs, light, etc.?).

Although I have Editor at 1. The Renderer is always set to 3.
