Here's my idea. It's pretty gruesome, but I think it will make for a powerful image:

My idea is for a penal colony on some alien world with inhospitable conditions. To adapt, the prisoners are given certain inhancements to survive. Chief among these is a synthetic epidermis that reflects the harmful solar radiation penetrating the thin atmosphere.

When a prisoner has committed a serious transgression, they are exiled from the prison facility and a chemical process is initiated in the synthetic epidermis that causes it to become transparent. So
basically, they start to burn from the inside out.

When the person is dead, the body decomposes very quickly and then the epidermis and other synthetic parts are retrieved and used for a new inmate.

My image will show someone beginning their exile. In terms of composition, I'm looking to generate something with a kind of classical sensibility. I'm looking at Rodin's sculptures right now and getting some ideas.
--------------
I'm going to start first by modeling a human body for the shape of the transparent epidermis, then model the organic and synthetic parts that will go inside.

Sounds painful.......burn baby burn! Sound like a devious idea
Will you have all the skin transparent- like or just most of it?

Well, I'm thinking that there will be some artificial parts located in the surface of the skin. For instance, maybe there will be little pressure-release valve located over major muscle groups to release gasses as the tissue burns/decomposes. Also I'm thinking that maybe some of the muscle groups will be partially transparent as well. I don't want just a body showing the muscle groups under the skin. I'm aiming at a variety of tissues/organs revealed.

Thanks, for the interest! I'm hoping to have some sketches up soon.

I bailed on my first idea. It was too involved and I kind of lost interest in the idea. Here's my new one:

An advanced race masters the science of genetics and eventually evolves to a non-corporeal state of existence. Before embarking on an exploration of the universe, they record all of their knowledge of physiology into a sentient computer housed inside a mass of mutable flesh. The computer can assume any physical form and can generate any type of tissue or bone mass it desires.

A million years go by and the shapeshifter is discovered by a primitive race and taken for a god.

Just the main part of the head. Point modeling using Cate Blanchette as a reference.

I'm going to be finished with this torso part soon. This will be positioned where the big head is on the sketch.

I'm trying to keep the mesh relatively simple, since I'm going to be detailing it in ZBrush.
