Tyrone Marshall has entered the Machineflesh 3D Challenge.

I am enjoying the many people joining along on this contest.

I really do not think it is going to be a contest of just pure modeling, texturing, and rendering.

It is going to take a well developed concept, storyline, and design that can be intertwined into strong visual meaning to convey machineflesh.

This is going to be very complex. Good luck to everyone as I must now move away from the text line and allow the story to take root...

I'm very curious to see where you are going with this. So many possibilities.... I'll interject ideas once you are a bit more down this path. Cheers.

Continuumx

Thanks Dorram,

At the moment, I do not know exactly, I am letting the process make the way. I was a little bit worried at the begining as to what this is going to become but the latest sketch has opened up something very wonderful.

I have a ways to go before I start jumping in and modeling things. Which at this point in the game, is really a whee bit early to model the final peice unless it is modeling to explore the concept .

I am watching your thread as well, as I think it has some very deep areas as well for exploration.

To be used for design guidelines in construction of modeling phase as structural objects in the realm of liquid sentience and being strangely different than our solid sentience which is the realm of humans.

Final concept sketch element two. The liquid sentients use their ability to control density, temperature, and surface tension along with mechanical constructions to enable them to accomplish the greatest feat of all in their realm, the ability of locomotion. The liquid sentients are begining to apply technology to control flow and surface tension to move about in their world.

I don't understand why there are no more people to post here. Your concept is very very interesting, like the process you are following to developp your idea, it's very interesting.
I stay tuned with your Project.

It's looking great, can't wait to see this stuff in 3D.

Thanks harnelbe, the concept in text is going be in my next message.

The sketching may be throwing people off, because I am letting the sketches develop the story and concept which now I am gladly to say, it is about ready and I am ready to start modeling!

Zero2Zillian, I hope to clear up some of the confusion shortly.

no to wonder, but what are you goin to model from those scetches, im perplexed and lost in what the ......? No offence, i hope some modeling bring out something really cool from this strange......concept? I'm thinkin its some kinda impressionism, if thats a word????? ALl them big time New York folk talk about it:surprised

Update. Color/Lighting in no way reflects the final product. First level of detail. No final proportions. No detail at all. Just forms.

Looks very kinetic (note:in wire, not in shaded pic),
like Lumiere Bros train. Just love it!!!
Though I still can't clearly see what's it gonna be, but do not
hurry cause your presentation is abs marvelous. We should have
all done something like this, to
make some confusion, humor, puzzle, suspense...story.

Wonderfull!

Thanks Empy,

I like your comments! I will integrate some kind of wire texturing in the surface mass, the 'water' organic form will become more like the sketches more or different, but in any rate, it will be more transparent so you can see interesting things happening.

I have a lot of modeling to do, basically I will be in some way or another modeling a lot of things from those weird sketches.

Cinema is the first program I have used where I can actually model what I am thinking of.

I am watching your thread as well, I like what I see there!

Once this gets through another 3 or four more modeling levels- its only going to get more and more strange- this being has never had the chance to be seen before now.

Continuumx, the presentation of your WIP is fantastic! really like the '-x of center' concept too.

Just wondering how metal is attached to the liquid? it is as if the body was a solid?? not looking for a scientific answer...but just thought i'd raise an issue that strikes me when appreciating your images ;)

Continuumx
04-11-2004, 12:41 AM
Thanks DrawMonger,

that is question is enough to stop one dead in their modeling tracks. It is one that I continue to work on, and I am thinking it will be answered as this model progresses, albeit slowly- but I think once things fall into place, the pace will pick up dramatically.

Thankyou for your comment, it really helps to see how someone else enters the work.

Pre-finished exterior liquid flowing skin life-form.

Next - the exciting stuff- the inner machine devices that make liquid locomotion possible. These machines allow for the liquid form to be freemoving yet maintain a strong dense and tensile surface structure so that the liquid flesh skin does not just fall away and loose cohesion. Without this, the liquid lifeforms would not be able to associate, and sentience would not be possible because of dissipation and disassociation.

End of transmission.

claudio_jordao: Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I get inspired by alot of the other entries as well, I think it is a really good and healthy community here- we are all really in it to improve our skills by brushing elbows with the masters- I feel no animosity here or negativity. Really fantastic community! Just stay with your work, sometimes it takes a little longer to develop a project. If you get stuck, take a break, browse through the ongoing work, and get involved by offering comments and critiques because the help you give is also the help you gain in what you are doing.

Drawmonger: Thanks for the comments, I will let the next modeling phase give you some ideas on how this kind of lifeform might be possible. Which by the way compared to what I have been doing so far, will be much harder but I still have about four weeks of intensive modeling before it is time to start focusing on composition, materials, lighting and compositing. I decided to front load the conceptual and modeling phases much heavier than the texturing/lighting/rendering/compositing phases. I just think a well developed model and idea will just move one into a more natural and quicker progression through texturing and rendering.

:)

Nexu: Thanks, I cannot really tell you much about the next phase as this is all uncharted terrain.

Empy:

Thank you, I noticed you are enjoying your project as well. Your thread is very organic! Yet it has a lingering mechanical taste to it! Bravo!

Not an indication of final texturing or rendering- first level of many in defining this below the liquid surface organism.

There is another level of machines that sit just above this level- I will be working on that at the same time I work on this mesh.

I have some other strange things planned, just do not know if I have time. There are 27 energy-field-amplifiers that need some detail. Plus many other surprises!

I hope to have most of the other parts together by end of first week in may, I need at least 2.5 to 3 weeks to play with textures!

These tubes will undergo another modeling progress that will give them the appearance of a very organic nature. The whole concept of the fluid expression is the state of movement from mechanical constructs to and fro liquid constructs that can form a united consciousness.

Definitely more to come!

Hi! I have to tell you that without even looking at your profile, I knew right away that you are an architect!!! One one hand, I really like your camera angles, perspectives and proportion. It is very different to the other sci-fi themes that you usually see. On the other hand, the design seems a bit random. Difficult for most people to understand. I am looking forward to seeing the end result of your work because I think it is an unusual and fascinating entry.
Maybe you would like to look at my entry, however, it does not have anything to do with architecture.
