I am working on a Camera Match scene. That part works. I have created several components as Matte/Shadow objects so I can put objects behind them, etc.

I need to duplicate the reflection on top of one of the objects so that my 3d objects reflect in the real scene. These are the problems I have: (I am using Raytrace Reflections)

1. when I use ADDITIVE, it creates a nice reflection but also lightens up the actual image (the reflection object is visible)

2. when I turn it off, it makes everything darker.

3. I have tried not using the original background and compositing it in After Effects, but cannot get the reflection to render as an Alpha channel. Max Help says: "Tip: Matte reflections don't successfully create an alpha channel unless you render them against a black background. " The only thing I have in my scene are the matte objects and the reflection object.... with black background.... but no alpha.

Any help would be appreciated.

1. I'm assuming that the object is reflecting the background as well... If you're using the Raytrace map , there is a radio button for not using the environment map.

3. As for AfterEffects, try transition modes like Screen or Multiply instead of relying on the alpha channel
