So far this is a few hours of work. My idea is to try and show off a weenie dog that has no longer any use of her back legs. So now she has a machanical backside and a sidekick that hangs with her on her back. If I can figure it out I am going to try and show that when the dogs tail waggles it creates energy for the machine. Good times for the duo.

wow....thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate all of the comps.
I am going to take pictures of my weenie dogs this weeksnd so I can texture this lil lady. Any body have any ideas on what kind of little sidekick he should have...I am thinking of a toad.
03-25-2004, 07:17 PM
:wavey: Hey! nice modeling! I love it! you have done a good details! Keep cool! and I will be around... NICE! :applause:
03-25-2004, 07:53 PM
Ehm, What about a flying hot dog with a helix? :D
03-25-2004, 07:57 PM
Lol, this looks awesome already. I think a toad sidekick would be really good too. Will his rider be mechanical as well? I'll be keeping an keep on this weenie to be sure!
Turtle Power! Now mechanized. (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=131651)
03-25-2004, 08:01 PM
thanks again:) Yeah the side kick will be machineflesh too. Im trying to think of a way to make the toad look orginal. There is already a frong on here with mechanical legs so I don't want to do that. hmmmm...im just going to need to brainstorm.
Wow, that's pretty!
I have to agree with mosconariz there is just too much talent
in this challenge.
Not that I thought I could win. But, you know I like to pretend!
Very nice! I like the loose skin on the collar nice touch!!I like the detail on the feet. The saddle is funny especially since you put it on what looks to me like a miniature Dachshund.
Very nice, hon! Very nice!

03-25-2004, 08:22 PM
Ok, about the toad... What about if can't sing anymore, so you add a Cd player or a toad with mechanich teeth... 'm thinking that both could have being run over, that's why the prothesis :curious:
03-25-2004, 08:25 PM
good IDEA! I may look into that. Last night I built a little star on the chest of the dog. Im thinking I would like it if he was like a cop car\K9 and the could be in control of traffic. I would like to try and tie your idea of being hit by a car into this. Good thinking!!!
Im guessing the frog could be the deputy.:bounce:
03-25-2004, 11:36 PM
heheh there's a funny one :) Great modeling skills. Keep going that's looking good :applause:
Excellent subject and great modeling. A perfect machineflesh representation.

Well I have a new update with my weenie dogs little friend. This is a Guine pig. He is going to be the Sheriff. I have lots more work to do to this one.
I like the guinea pig instead of the frog! Will he have reins or something?
-The star, is it pinned directly into the dog or does he have a
Ok, I wouldn't say anything else. I wait till you are done tweakin'!
But, the model is lookin' good so far!

03-27-2004, 11:55 AM

03-27-2004, 12:09 PM
Personally one of my favorites, that guinea pig is just too cool. :applause:
03-27-2004, 01:39 PM
now that is not only funny, but great! that is strange and wonderful! Great modeling. I never really thought about a hampster riding a dog... or a cowboy hampster riding a dog... or a cowboy hampster riding a dog with a mechanized behind section of the body...
oh did you notice your missing something for the ... hmmm poop shoot?... maybee a back flap? :surprised
I love them.. that is abosolutely adorable. I can wait to see what the shading and enviroment will be like!
03-27-2004, 02:53 PM
:wip: :wip: :wip: You rock!!! That's really a nice concept! :bounce:
03-27-2004, 03:49 PM
WOW...thanks for all of the replies! You guys rock.....now if I can just figure out how to add that poop baggy thingy. Today I am going to hold my weenie dog down and take pictures of her for texturing. That should be fun.
03-27-2004, 04:07 PM
LOL that is Soooooooooooo cool, cant wait to see what it looks like at the end,
03-27-2004, 07:09 PM

03-28-2004, 06:14 PM
YAY for guineapigs! I love this models!
03-28-2004, 06:48 PM
HAHAHA I love it!!! It keeps me smiling. Beautiful modeling!
A concept is required. Can we see one?
That dog kicks serious butt. I like it.
03-29-2004, 09:02 AM
I started texturing today.
Im going to upload my concept drawing when I get one done. Sometimes I find it easier to just start modeling. I will use the concept art to help me with the pose and background.
03-29-2004, 09:05 AM
Artist71 .... excellent work may you have progressed through your model really quickly ... keep up the good work man... ill keep an eye out for ya.. oh make sure you upload a concept pic... it's one of the requirements for the challenge... anyways cheers man
03-30-2004, 05:34 AM
Another update before I begin my concept image.
03-30-2004, 06:31 AM
The rendering of the dog !!!
i've just some crits:
it's about the size of the pipes... with pipes which have so hudge size i'm
wondering where the cylinder of
explosion engine is hidden...
Perhaps i 'll had some flesh in the
transition of the body between fur of the dog and the mecha part , actually it seems
to much slice cutted like the dog were
only a mechanic dog and not a real one
03-30-2004, 07:56 AM
I love dogs and this one is especially nice, looks like the real one with is sad expression :hmm:
Mapping is also great.
Are you going to use some kind of Fur for this dog?
03-30-2004, 08:22 AM
Cute and fun.Nice job.
03-30-2004, 09:56 AM
wooonderful ! just from beginnung that is a great idea... textures starting look really amazing, congrats !
03-30-2004, 10:41 AM
Yeah, that's my favourite work
03-30-2004, 10:49 AM
Nice concept , great skill .
03-30-2004, 11:20 AM
great stuff man.love it deputy dogg.
03-30-2004, 05:20 PM
Thanks again for all of the replies. You guys sure are nice.
Grorum: Thanks man. I was thinking about using a fur tool for this but since it is going to only be a still image I didn't feel like going through all of the work to make something look pretty much the same when I am done. If I was going to animate this then I would hHAVE to use fur. THANKS for the comps!!
harnelbe: Good point about the engine. I had not thought of that. Ill see what I can come up with in the concept sketch. Love your drawing in your machineflesh challenge!
03-30-2004, 11:58 PM
:bounce: :applause: This one really made me smile...very sweet idea....i will wait for your final image...
03-31-2004, 12:08 AM
oohh!, this is very funny, i really like the idea, very original i think, good texturing on the dog man! ill be waiting for next update.
i agree with harnelbe, think that you shoul do something on the machine-dog transition, good luck on your next steps
03-31-2004, 03:03 AM
great piece ... curious to see how your gonna blend the textures where dog ends and mech starts ... enjoying it big time
03-31-2004, 03:33 AM
Nice job on the textures, you really feel the folds in the skin -it has a nice weight to it.
03-31-2004, 06:08 AM
CONCEPT milestone = You have to submit your concept/s.
03-31-2004, 07:48 AM
ahhh.....yeah. I know that already. Im working on it. Did a lot of my concept in 3d. Its how I work. Will be posting a 2D concept soon. Read my previous post.
03-31-2004, 10:41 AM
Here is a start on the concept. Focusing on the back of the dog and how it is going to tie into the flesh part of the dog. I have to be careful with this because I still want this image to be funny and not gross. So I have an engine under glass like a ferrari 360. With wire coming out and into the dog. Also pipes that will be running up to the front of the dogs chest.
03-31-2004, 11:18 AM
This is a wicked idea, i really like it ;)
how are you going to do the fur?
03-31-2004, 03:13 PM
:bounce: I like the 360 Modena idea!
03-31-2004, 04:23 PM
WOW! Dogcycle! Really cool idea!!!
ok bill, eileen and i looked at it again and although i must say you've done a fantastic job with the photo texture, we are not sure that it is the best route to go with this little guy. eileen said that she liked it before... now it's getting a little freaky and isn't as cute.
it might be cool if it was more toy like, as eileen said, "like my little pony!"... because it's plastic and colored.
just a thought... if you continue with the super realistic look it could come together, but seeing as how this guy is turning into more of a lighthearted character, a distinctive style might keep it from being, as you said, gross.
still, it's awesome... keep going, keep going!
04-02-2004, 08:44 AM
hey man very good stuff:buttrock:
04-06-2004, 11:00 AM
i love the little hampster guini pig thing riding the dog, that is a nice touch.
