I wanted to do something else than big guns.
So I thought that sports is a an activity that could use cybernetics elements to improve the performances in the future.
My favorite sport is basketball, so I choose this one.
I will present the cybernetic prosthetics as advertised products, like the sports shoes today. For exemple : " the new T-600 leg from Roobot, only 19987 $"
03-31-2004, 10:40 AM
Here is a logo for the Cybernetic Basketball Assciation.
I'll try to creat a complete universe rather than just an illustration...
Wow, exactly the same idea.
I too had thought of presenting it like advertising. (i used to be an ad agency Creative Director)
And for the leg too!!
Strange how people can how the exakt same idea.
Now ive gotta find a twist to my ad.
And i really like your drawings. Very fluent style to them.
Well, i defeintely will be watching you
03-31-2004, 01:02 PM
perhaps because I'm an ad creative director too :))
I will perhaps do something else if too many people do sport stuff
Let's see how it goes
03-31-2004, 03:32 PM
I'll try to get a much darker mood than the actual NBA. The future of sport will be more violent, so I tried to get a feeling of prison for the ground...
03-31-2004, 03:55 PM
I take it there will be no live audience?
I like the design of the players, and the adidas logo is a nice touch
03-31-2004, 04:34 PM
no it'll be too dangerous for the audience !!!
And the company cba make more money with the TV rights than selling places... Yeah future sucks...
03-31-2004, 04:53 PM
good idea and nice character design :)
you could maybe replace the walls with some plexi? although i like it like this :)
03-31-2004, 04:55 PM
Wait for more
03-31-2004, 07:14 PM
Brutal basket ball, sounds interesting.
Very nice sketches BTW.
03-31-2004, 07:27 PM
cool character sketches...
are there gonna be any visible cameras...?
03-31-2004, 07:29 PM
Your chacter sketches look great! This one is going to be good. Keep going!
The fact that you made the logo and everything is great. I'm really interested to see this. Very unique design and idea, well apart from everyone else. Really like it!
04-01-2004, 03:50 PM
I worked more on the mood of the ground.
One of the BIG aspect of this future game is that you can play with the walls !!!! And that makes a big difference :) I already have some great ideas for some incredibles moves.
Ahh its Looking very nice!
Its almost cosy, i wouldnt mind playing a game there ;)
04-01-2004, 04:58 PM
nice man i love it, hope to see more soon.
04-01-2004, 06:03 PM
Very interesting idea- I love the concept.
One suggestion about the walls and the basket- I see them a bit more "hi-tek". The walls should have pannels that have different angled surfaces and even different materials so that you can bounce the ball in a different way depending on which part of a section you choose to use.
Just a suggestion- I can't wait to see the players in!!!
04-02-2004, 04:10 PM
Here is "THE BLOCKER" he's the shaquille O'neal of the future :)
04-02-2004, 04:27 PM
Hey, that is REALLY nice work. :bounce:
04-02-2004, 05:54 PM
Yeah! REally nice work!!!
04-02-2004, 06:14 PM
Hey nice stuff! From the thumbnails I thought it was 3d work at first. Looks like a well thought and laid out project. Good luck in the contest.
Heeeeeyy.. looking really good.
A question though, now it feels like the guy is mostly robot. Only the head feels human. Perhaps you could show more human parts thurough the arm or something like that.
Anyway, im really looking forward to seeing your piece finished.
(although im getting more stressed by the minute ;)
04-03-2004, 12:02 PM
nice. love the extreme body parts
04-03-2004, 12:28 PM
That's what I call Sport!!
Let there be blood!
04-03-2004, 02:07 PM
didn't like basketball 'til now
also like the idea of creating a world around an image
it's one of the things i can rarely escape myself
comes to mind some counterweight to that huge arm
of the blocker , unusual bone structure and super dense
...spoils so many of my pics , thinking stuff like that :)
"gotta make it balanced" "hey , that couldn't work!" , etc. bleh
anyways , good stuff :)
04-03-2004, 03:51 PM
Finally a real Sport for "men"!!!
Very well executed and extraordinary colorsheme!
Wait to see more...
04-05-2004, 08:11 AM
super ton boulot sallu bonne continuation
04-05-2004, 10:45 AM
wilfrid >> merci
tommy lee >> thx yeah for meeeeen !
squibbit >> yeah me too I love to create a universe that could be real. For that big arm, there no problems of weight, they use composite carbon, it' very very light
bibigorno >> haha yeah that's right
Olidale >> thx I'll continue this way
ET >> Yeah your right for this one, but there will be other characters with more flesh
Soapy >> well that's a great compliment
blood taster/ FlyingP >> thx a lot
Tedjel >> Well that's a good idea, i'll see if I can use it
oh bone ! nice to see you here !
nice start ! im waiting to see more :)
04-06-2004, 12:25 PM
I can't wait to see these guys in action. Looking good!
04-06-2004, 12:29 PM
Here is "the jumper", the slam dunk specialist
04-06-2004, 01:51 PM
You better stop right here and get yourself an agent to sell this idea to a video game company :-) Sweet designs, nice rendering. I like it.
You could go insane with this and have the walls move too. Segments moving in and out - maybe the hoop isn't stationary!
04-06-2004, 02:18 PM
i find ur concept very good.
at last a new kind of sport for a new kind of creatures.
i've been also amazed by ur coloring and i loved the basket ball "stage" good work one of the best
04-06-2004, 02:34 PM
added some details...
Still don't what kind of action I'll put in it though :)

You know, that would make for a damn cool game :bounce:
04-06-2004, 03:42 PM
Very cool. Love the lighting cant wait to see these guys in action.
04-06-2004, 04:31 PM
Here is "the assister".
With his great high speed arms he has a laser vision, with automatic schematic tactic view.
04-06-2004, 04:48 PM
This project looks like a lot of fun. You should make a mod for this idea. Keep pumping out the players!
04-07-2004, 06:54 AM
I want the ticket on this match
That's all, that I can tell

Yeah! I used to play that game... Brutal Deluxe, on the Amiga all the time. This would be a totally awsome game. Even more so if it incorporated the ideas of diffrent angles on the wall panels, diffrent materials or even alternating gravitational pull zones. I would play it all the time.
Now what was the name of that "Brutal Deluxe"-game.. something 2, wasnt it? Now I wont be able to sleep until i remember...
04-08-2004, 04:29 AM
VEry nice players!!
This last, reminds me DR. Octupus! Great sketchs!
04-08-2004, 04:22 PM
Looking awesome. That's going to be so fun to see the teams on the floor pitted against each other. That would make a cool Saturday morning cartoon.
04-08-2004, 05:56 PM
viag >> well I'm happy that you're here too
haven >> well that's quite hard to combine all the characters together...
borderland >> IT would be cool if I can make money with that !!! It's a good idea... I could do something more complex...
ganta >> thx ou i do my best
flyingp >> it's the game I always wanted to play to
cleptocat >> me too :) but I have to draw it now...
sketch23 >> what do you mean by mod ?
sakor >> it's only pay per view :)
blaren >> don't know that game !!!!! I have to find it. You're right for the arena I should do something more complex... But easily understandable for the final illustration...
bloodtaster >> thx you're right
haven >> haha it would be insane to animate though !!!
04-09-2004, 05:44 AM
Great concept (haven't we all wondered whether these incredible athletes are really human), and this is so beautifully coloured too that it looks like a poster! Fantastic work, really. :bounce:
04-09-2004, 06:40 AM
Bonestudio, good stuff man. After looking at your stuff again, I had a thought. The court still looks like a traditional floor in proportion. Maybe the baskets could be much higher in proportion to the length or maybe the court was circular and the baskets rotated periodically making the players adjust. Your players are advanced by technology, I was thinking the court could show some distict changes too. Anyway, I really like your work:thumbsup:
04-14-2004, 02:35 PM
Very interesting funny way.
Really good
04-14-2004, 04:23 PM
I did a concept sketch in 3D, for the new Arena, I don't know if it is allowed I hope so...
04-14-2004, 04:27 PM
Here is a more advanced version, I will add jumping panels, and perhaps more light sources...
So waht do you think of the new area ? More challenging I think, for advanced players only :)
only one line is needed for this sport, to score 3 points you mus be to the other side of the middle line. And free throws are from the middle circle.
04-15-2004, 12:56 AM
The court looks great! Awsome game concept. Sell it to someone!
And for all of you who wondered about the game i was talking about earlier... Its called: Speedball 2 - Brutal Deluxe
04-15-2004, 08:41 AM
Hello bonestudio !
Your court is interesting.
I think about a thing. What do you think about a gravity court that allow player to jump from a plan to an other ? (from the floor to wall and wall to ceiling or directly from floor to ceiling.). So the marks must be on the totally surface of the court.
What do you think about it ?
04-15-2004, 10:52 AM
blaren >> oh yes I know this game !!! This was a great one on amiga !!!
bebete >> Thats right ! there must be lines all over the arena
04-19-2004, 06:28 PM
You're in my top3 !
Go go go France !
Your idea is really good, and your sketches...I'm jealous !
Lot of character and fun.
If your final execution match the idea...
04-20-2004, 02:35 AM
heh heh nice.
04-20-2004, 08:41 AM
Oh, yes! I like this!
Nice twist. Be sure to make it mucho dangerouse and violent.
Maybe reinforce the baskets, so that they can sustain a beatin.
04-20-2004, 05:21 PM
Another player concept still one else to do !!! I'm close to the end :) I will have my five players team complete.
04-20-2004, 06:58 PM
So far I really like the direction of your challenge. I noticed that your new high tech court has two "shelves" on the right and left at mid court. I think that these need to be integrated more into the scene. It looks like a counter top instead of a high tech jump pad. I am really impressed on how much art work you have generated. Keep jammin!
Can you show the scale of the players in the scene to give us an idea what you're thinking?
04-21-2004, 12:16 AM
The characters are incredible!!! Nobody will stop those steel giants!!!
Nice job, guy..........
See my machineflesh challenge 3D (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/machineflesh/view_entries.php?challenger=2136)
04-22-2004, 03:25 AM
...this is such a huge concept...my favorits sofar is Jumper and Dunker...i think, cant imagine what this would turned out to be, but ill follow it closely:)
tres bonne idee Bone
cela change des autres thread , continue comme cela
04-26-2004, 08:21 PM
Fantastic concept and visualisation. I am very impressed with your skills...very talented.
Looking forward to seeing more!
04-27-2004, 01:32 PM
Well I had some time the last 2 days to begin the final composition. So here is the result I hope you'll like it, I have a lot to do now... to finish it
04-27-2004, 04:34 PM
I love your work! full of creativity :D
Yo! The new comp turn out really nice! I dig it!
04-27-2004, 09:43 PM
04-28-2004, 04:12 PM
Here is an update with a lot of modifications and color effects
04-28-2004, 05:16 PM
Hey good action going on with those 2 guys aiming to score. :bounce:
This looks quite dark. Maybe its just my monitor, but i would like to see the area little more light up.
Also that background does still stand out to be little more 3Dish than the players. Arena also looks so cramped up for people with super talent and mechanical aids.
I didnt read all the posts, but will there be audience anywhere?
Rest of the players look so passive. Just standing and staring will it be a point. They should be running and jumping to get ready for possible rebound or something :buttrock:
Sorry if i werent supposed to say anything, but otherwise this is great computergame material. This stuff really looks like it could possible replace that speedball game
04-28-2004, 05:26 PM
Man, you are doing a great work...
Damn! u are getting so much better than last time I saw you at the T-Dome thing. Looking Great!
04-28-2004, 08:53 PM
great concept, if i can suggest somethng try to seperate more the first plane from the background.
nice dynamic feeling and great color !
04-29-2004, 09:35 AM
I had a question, are the players machine parts powered by something....maybe like power packs or solar powered? I think making them solar powered and playing outside would be a lot more brutal, eh, eh?
I'm just rambling. Great ideas, good concept. I like. Keep it up!
04-29-2004, 10:20 AM
This is the final composition for this fake advertising. I wasn't very happy with the background so I choose to hide it a bit.
I need to work on details now...
Tell me what you think
04-29-2004, 10:34 AM
this latest looks pretty cool , though I liked the earlier design
too and I wouldn't hide it so much ... I would also like to see
more clearly the other player designs
great stuff , nonetheless !
I really like your stuff and idea, but in my humble opinion...I love the earlier one much more. Agree with Squipbit. You could refine it some more and play around with it a bit more.
04-29-2004, 10:06 PM
Amazing that you really are thinking of the whole big picture :)
Advertisements and all. That new ball is so bright. So is the sport called Solar Ball ??
04-30-2004, 12:41 AM
This is hilarious. You’ve got great perspective going here in the new colored versions. Nice action and concept with the platforms.
Just an idea: but I thought it would be cool if the guy you have jumping off the wall on the right was your concept character with the extendable arms, and he was reaching towards the ball with one of his arms extended to the front of the scene.
Nice work, keep at it,
04-30-2004, 07:37 AM
very creative ideas! great!
04-30-2004, 01:06 PM
thanks for the comment on my thread ! :bounce:
You know , I think for the moment you have the BEST concept! :buttrock:
So add some details , your latest fake advertising is Very funny and cool but I think you shoulf let the basket in flashy yellow to be in accord with the ball! and smooth a little the machanic parts and adding some details would be very cool!!^^
05-03-2004, 11:39 AM
After a break I looked at that final pice and I have to say that I really reall don't like it at all.....
I don't know if I'll keep that basketball idea.... Maybe I should try another compo...
05-03-2004, 12:26 PM
Interesting concept :) :D
(hilarious logo and "just stop it" sign)
stick with the basket concept: its nice.
But another compo perhaps?
it doesnt really "tell the story" of the concept....
05-03-2004, 07:22 PM
Your work is always amazing me Bone. really nice WIP, I love the concept and the pub like concept is excellent :applause:
05-14-2004, 05:21 PM
great job man!
yeah man u got a really cool concept as everyone mentioned bfr. i'm not gonna write about the concept but i could say that shoulder armor is a bit too big... if it was baseball then it would hellp him to protect himself from the ball which would be faster than a speedin bullet. :) but think about his moves in basketball.. when he raises his arm the shoulder will hit his head..also he won't see the circle while doin a slam. but indeed concept is cooler than the most.
05-14-2004, 07:46 PM
Until now ALL your work is great!
keep the basketball idea! :applause:
05-19-2004, 05:54 PM
What happened to the forum ? all my previous post are gone ?
Do I have to repuload all ?
Here is my last version
Any comment is appreciated
actually its paintin is cool and shoulder armor now looks better. his waist looks weak due to his upper body.. actually iwhat i mean by waist is not his abdominals.. his sides of abs. those muscles seems like weak due to his abs. but he seems like a half steel-structured man so he might have thinner waist to have a better look. the steel tube inside his right chest muscle is not givin me the feelin that it has got a dimention. looks like a drawin on his chest.. the tubes on his neck has a better dimension .anyway its not that important. but i wonder would those tubes r nececary on his biceps? actually he has got enough tubes at his arms. but indeed it looks good. and one more thing to his short. could it be diffrent than old fashioned short? it looks good, but i'm just questioning for a better result may come as an idea...ofcourse some good idea's wont look good in a drawin. so keep what looks good ;)
05-19-2004, 09:27 PM
Hey that is a cool idea!
Keep this way!:)
05-25-2004, 09:10 AM
There's some amazing rendering throughout your thread.
And the final image certainly has impact. I do kinda miss some of the dynamism of the earlier posts, though...
The advert idea is great... maybe you could have some smaller action shots tied into the poster...? It probably doesn't need them but i just miss those moving figures... :)
05-25-2004, 05:34 PM
Well I changed his pants, I like the tubes in his body, so I think I'll keep them.
For the lack of action, I have to say that it's not a contest about action but about merging machin and flesh, that's why I didn't keep action movement in the last piece.
Here is more advanced version
well yeah now its lookin good with that short ;)
,it would be to much work to put some action behind but u could put the other guys silhouette's or some man silhouhette's standin behind him and fadin to background kinda.. if u r planin to fill up the background.. or u can keep it like this.
05-26-2004, 01:25 PM
Well I think I"m close to the end.
I tried to put some action behind but I think it's too disturbing and I won't keep it for the final one.
I added an element on his torso, it's a "turbo" button, the player press it and his skills are much stronger for a short time, for a dunk for example.
05-26-2004, 01:33 PM
I realy like it.
it looks finished to me :)
great design on the metal parts and i like the way you linked the metal and the flesh parts.
definitely one of my favs so far :)
05-26-2004, 06:39 PM
Great ideas, Im lovin' it! I miss the arena but I like the latest idea the best. he character loks sahweet. I think the piece would look cool with the 2 additional guys in the two sides as long as it was kept light blue blended into the back sorta like they are now, it would jsut be cool as an indication that there are various types of enhancements for different players.
I really like the armor on the one side on the main character!
05-27-2004, 09:35 AM
I think this is the final piece, I will take some days to do something else, to come back on it with a new fresh look, to see if there are things to change.
06-04-2004, 01:55 AM
but...he seems leaning to the right...maybe you have to re-center his body...Or it's me ? Maybe i'm leaning.. huh...
Bah..anyway...it's a good work and a good idea man !
06-05-2004, 12:19 AM
hi my friend!
very good work but i think u must lighter the scene the darkness have taken away some good details u've worked
c dommage mon ami que tu cache tes atouts
06-05-2004, 01:32 AM
I would go on with the lighter version too.
some texture on the basketball would be nice too, so it's more obvious to the viewer...
06-05-2004, 07:24 AM
hi bone...this is a great wip. i love the characters you've made. i think that more texture would be nice on the basketball too. it'll give it the extra kick. great job!
06-05-2004, 08:55 AM
yea, i have to say as well, that the guy is leaning to the right. Otherwise a nice color choice, great concept and a presentation!
06-14-2004, 03:08 PM
here is the final coloring I worked on details, and composition. I changed a bit the light.
06-14-2004, 03:16 PM
that's the final piece I've corrected things with his abs.
good luck to all of us, for this great challenge !!!!
06-14-2004, 03:56 PM
A very VERY cool concept, I'll be watching this thread closely :)
06-14-2004, 04:15 PM
Yess..it's more better now ! (i hope i didn't offense you... )
Anyway, what a player ! Great work !
I wish you the best.
Good luck with the judging.
06-15-2004, 12:55 AM
yooo bone :D

06-15-2004, 04:53 AM
Man, what a concept!!! Very well done!!:applause:
Good luck for you!!
wow I wouldn't like to play against him. Very interesting concept, maybe someday NBA will look like this... I wonder how the match would look like... good luck in the contest!:wavey:
06-15-2004, 05:20 PM
cool dude! good job! you put the level high, it'll be hard to beat you!!!!
06-15-2004, 05:28 PM
That's really nicely done, Thierry.
The rendering is spot on and it works really well as a 'fake' advertisement.
Good luck with the judging!!
Like you said... this has been a great challenge...
06-15-2004, 05:39 PM
