ok this is my first concept sketch about my idea, " The Funborn Bros" . I will upload more drawings in this days . Any coments and critics are welcome.

The first guy of the Funborn´s is here , is the basic concept and ill add more detail to all the drawing . His name is Fitzgerarld. His body is conected with this old bicycle but with a new design.

The hand with the tires belongs to Archivald the leader of the family and he can travel so fast with this mecanism.

hola, voy a escribir en ingles para que otros puedan leer:

ok, nice start on the shape, wich modeling technique r u using?,
just a few comments about the model, i think the arms looks a bit squarish yet but maybe this looks like so bcos of the lights, i find well done your model til now, dont forget the folds on the pants man!, good start , keep pushigs those vertices, il stay tuned to see your updates, keep on the good work man:thumbsup:

Hey ADR, La idea me parece buenísima y bastante interesante. El modelo esta impecable. Me gustaría saber si te planteas hacer sólo el caracter o tambien diseñarle un entorno? porque algo así como un circo o freaksow de humanos mecanizados me parecería alucinante!!!

adr
04-12-2004, 04:38 PM
im using Polys for the project, and hope to finish the head today in the night , ill put more details in the arm to get a smooth shape there.

VerynastyVerynasty yes im thiniking on make an eviroment soon. I will focus in the characters and then i will start to think about the eviroment.

Thanks for the coments :)

Great job; the idea is amazing! :bounce:

About the model, something's strange with the pants... In the legs, the proportions in Z are bigger than proportions in X (pa que me entiendas; se ve más largo que ancho):surprised
Sigue adelante!

And we have flesh...............Good to see.The Funborns are here.........

If I could make a suggestion adr..............:lightbulb

I would elongate the upper torso a touch. The chest area should be a little longer in the "Y" direction, just a touch.

I would probably add one more fat roll below the two along the rib cage.................

I think the arms need more length, and the hands need more size overall.....................

These are small things, and most probably taste issues on my part, just trying to give you another set of eys here adr.......

All in all it's looking good, and the concept theme has lots of potential in all aspects.........OK get back to work,I'll check back up on you later.Nice WIP thus far.Keep at it hard........

Hi Adr: as a complement with the virtuoso's advice, i think that the line between the neck and chest is so marked, makes look the head totally apart from the body, is just matter of moving those vertices out a bit to lose contrast in that line, but this could be just a personal taste matter so maybe is not necesary to do this, this model is going good, the character looks really funny, nice job man!

A little update with the tires that Archivald will have in the feet , still need a lot of details.

Virtuoso
04-17-2004, 09:26 PM
Hi ADR...............Archivald is coming along well.Nice effort and progress........My only crits,or really nit-picks would be too round the arms a touch.Make them a little rounder on all sides.......Also perhaps a little longer.......As well as the hands, they for me at least need more size, but that is a taste thing..........Hair looks good, perhaps a longer style would be good to try.......Again a taste thing.........Nice tires, look smooth......It's coming along nicely.Keep working like this, nice effort and results........

ADR......................Your work is evolving very nicely, the whole concept you created is coming along real well in 3D ADR.................Smooth and fun.The only WIP thought from me at this point would be the front of the bicep and forearm look still to need a bit more roundness,I see you have done some work there recently, but i think it still needs some minor shaping..............................Still your entry is fun and quite interesting, and done very well to this point.keep at it hard,it's coming along nicely...............

Hi ADR...............Coming along real well.............The machine parts are nicely detailed, smooth and clean modeling.............As for your character he too is coming out smoother all the time................I can see you have been rounding and shaping the front bicep area quite a bit, much nicer now,,,,,,But now I think you should do the same with the front forearm area, the same type improvements you gave the bicep area, make it rounder, smoother as you did the bicep area.................:)

Your work is coming along well,a fun idea is now looking really well done, just some tweaking and all will be one very nice piece,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Keep up the good work ADR........Looking very nice.............

ADR....................Ok.........Always better, always a notch up from every update to the next..................The machine parts are smooth, not too overdone, for something like this, they are just right...................Nice details and good design.........Smooth work.............

I could suggest that you "Elongate" the upper torso.......Just a bit in the "Y"........It will open up the compact look you have now...............Not anything drastic, just a touch...........

A touch more smoothnes too where the shoulder seperates from the upper arms............The biceps are much rounder now,It seems you have really gone over them well..........But you should still decrease the height in the "Y" on the biceps (Upper arms).......just a touch...............And round out the forearms still a little................Also give more definition to the hands, more division.........................

This all sounds like alot, but actually you are close. These are "Nitpicks",with a little time in adjustments you will have arrived.................The idea and style are wonderful,it's fun and interesting,I think with just a little more time tweaking a few small details this will be well worth your time.Keep hammering away like the rest of us ADR,it's getting close to what I know you are looking for................................:wip:

really nice modeling, all the details on the model are top notch!, you made a great work there, about textures, i think that maybe the yellow one needs some intensity at the specular map, cos i cant know if is metal or plastic surface,,... about rims, they look fine for me, good job so far, keep updating man!! and:thumbsup:

It's nice to see you have started textures.............I think at this point you should think of which road to take material wise....................It's a circus, should you go bright and plastic..............................Should you go for a very deep corrosion, tons of rust and metal............Or a metal with chipped paint????.......................It really depends on your feel at this point. The parts seem pretty strong, and would seem to me to be metal, with some plastic covers???

My thought would be to go for rust over chipped paint...............Worn and torn, but still with some leftover bright colors from the past...........A circuis just demands this I think...................But these are the Funborns,so they march to the beat of a different drummer.....right.;)

OK I leave it to you ADR,you are doing alot, and doing it good, keep at it,it's coming along quite well..................Cheers for now.............

Thanks Rajdeep for the comments and i will be in touch with your project.

-----------------------------------------------

Thanks Michael for your wise words .

Yes i think that i will go with a colourful parts with some rust . It will be a plastic shader with dirt maybe ill add corrosion to some areas and use metal in the part of the engine .

Need to add more Specular like Rattlesnake says and more details in the texture.

Thanks Again

hi adr,

i'm speechless...

it's a cool idea. and most importantly - its funny. most of the challengers (like me) seem to enjoy torturing people (naked women if possible). it's quite refreshing to see something less cruel (clowns are still evil).

Hey, this stuff is really cool! Textures are looking super duper. I'd maybe go for a slightly less dirty approach, or maybe less spread out. More subtle placement of dirt and grime or chipped paint ala Virtuoso's comment. It's really your call, but I think it'll look good any way you go. Keep up the great work!!:applause:

just as rattlesnake was told to you....

In my personal opinoin..bacause of the pushing dealdine the composition and the scene setup is more important at the moment..and your figures are ready to do that. maybe compositing will give you extra tips for texturing and with that you can save your time.
by the way...AWESOME WORK :buttrock:

One more update with textures in the set and the light setup .

What you think guys?

rattlesnake
06-12-2004, 09:26 AM
hi Adrian!.... i really like your last shot... textures looks really nice there... i have a litttle advice about the light bulbs that u included... maybe the material for them should be a translucent one... so the shadows look more realistic when projected in the walls... and i think that if u decide to turn those ligths on the ligthin will change dramatically... i think u should make a test placing real lights there... with some glow.... and see how they affect the characters... maybe the value for them shouldnt be higer than 40 watts power source.....
common friend kepp going! i love your updates ... textures are walking good!
