A quick concept sketch, trying to get the general mood of the model/scene. Those judged as prideful/vain are forced to endure mechanical mutilation/reconstruction while watching via several mirrors.
A side view of the operating table. Just playing around with shapes.

Beautiful line and very dramatic drawing. Strong mood. What kind of a society goes through all this trouble to mutilate their vain?

those are pretty damn cool drawings man , interesting style
Sheep: Thanks :)
Pumpuli: Thanks. I was just thinking about the cardinal sins, and thought about an extremely religious society that takes the role of God and punishes people for their sins while they're alive. And I picked pride/vanity for these drawings.
I worked on the table last night (
clicky (http://meshhead.com/mech/table.JPG)), but I'm not sure I want to continue in this direction. I want to center more on the character, rather than the torture. Will concept some more today.

this style is absolutly amazing!
please remain on this direction! I would like to see the final image seriously!
Your style is dramatic, tragic and voilent but without showing the real thing. The major "image" is projected into one's brain. Exactly the type of image I prefer!
It would be great if you could "rescue" these effects to your final!

Coming back very late... but, I'll see what I can do. Going a different direction. Mechanical hand needs some planning out.

refreshing to see this entry. strong composition, line work and color seems rare. nice piece. guy reminds me of Picasso. style-wise, McKeever came to mind on the b&w; Sienkewicz and others for the final.
