Ok...here I go! I stay with the Madhatter and HumptyDumpty.
I did Illus with them befor, and who now me they fit very well for that theme.
Nothing much to explain... It's just an evil look on the land behind the lookingglas.

Here is the first bluepencil-sketch...
U can file it under torture... somehow:)

I love the Mad Hatter.

The face has some great shapes and detail. The floating teapot base is a nice touch (and more interesting than the robot legs).

Hey Tommy Lee I like your design. The expressions on their faces look evil, esspecially the skinny guy in what looks like a broken strait jacket. Is that what I'm seeing? anyways  I wanna see this concept through to the end, very curious how its gonna turn out.

I think what Phugative means is that it's based upon characters from famous nursery rhymes or fairy tales. But, don't worry about it Tommy ... your entry is acceptable for the challenge.

The thing that makes it "OK" is that Tommy is putting his own design and twist to the characters. Which means that they do not closely resemble any adaptations of the characters previously done. They are unique to Tommy's sick-n-twisted style and undeniably his creations.

I hope that clears things up a bit.

Keep going Tommy, it's looking fantastic!

Cool stuff! :scream:

Don't forget to do your background soon, it's usually hard to add one when the characters are already so detailed. Something wacky with floating stuff in creepy alice in wonderland style might be nice. There's enough wacky stuff in that book so i'm sure you'll think of something good :)

Sweet! Well that's not the best word, hehe, but I am liking your style. I checked out your website and its awesome. You have a true feel for making horror out of innocent things. I like your play on Alice and Wonderland. Always been one of my favorite stories. I really hope this turns out to be an evil piece.

The idea of the MadHatter putting Humpty Dumpty back together is just wicked, and you just know the MadHunter is up to no good, no telling how he's altering Humpty's brain, hehe. This is such a fun contest, enjoying what everyone's coming up with.

This is definitly the darkest and weirdest of all the concepts I saw here. And that's great! That skin is absolutly repugnant and even the ideea of playing around in someone's brain (even if this is Humpty Dumpty) is sick. Congrats! Great piece of work. Has a "Panzar" feeling in it.

- I use a Wacom Graphire 2 graphictablet
- I use the following Layers right now:
*Lines
*Color Humpty
*Color Madhatter
*Color Mechanics
*Background
-I do the Highlights and Specialeffects in the endstage of my progress. I do them on seperate layers

@duddlebug: These colored dots are just my palette. I put them where I need it, thats a lil' chaotic but works just fine for me. And about the Background... I have a few rough ideas in the back of my head, but I let my thoughts float around till I finished the main characters. Thanks for your comments!!!

one of the greatest idea so far !

I love the characters, very twisted.

But I think that you're loosing lot's of details with your coloring, which is very "black burned" perhaps if you add more light source, perhaps a green one coming from the left you could add light and details to your color

i like this pic alot, it just keeps on getting better, your skills at digital painting are genius my only critism is that it seems very close to american mgees alice game, it had a similar looking mad hatter. i really love the floating tea pot!

This ones going to be hard to beat.
I was wondering if you could add some juice. Maybe when you do your lighting, just make the brain and other parts look really wet and nasty.

Hi there again!

I have to say that its not so convincing that WIP coloring... for NOW! Its 2 flat, not sharp enough...
But hey, what u did with madhatter its just amaizing, so I dont doubt about this one will be great as well... just dont forget to make it all more organic, wet and... sick ofcourse :bounce:
Make textures on this one believable!

Tommy youre a wonderfully creepy human being. Love the peice here. The only thing is that I would like to a touch more color saturation....only a touch. Too much would kill the style.

Your painting is really shaping together really nicely. Your putting some nice detail in. I'm also glad you improved the overall layout of the piece. It was kinda bothering when one of the characters bled off the page. Looking forward to seeing it more finished.

I may be telling you something someone has already mentioned...but I am saying this without reading the entire thread. ..and I wanted to get this in before I called it a night.

I am not sure what stage you are at in you process..but I was thinking your foreground elemnts are so heavy in black..that it may be a good idea to have light cast from below ..somewhere in the middle ground. That way you could develop a soft bounce of reflected light ..or a even a harder rim light.. It would add shape and detail to the dark areas ..and make it feel more tangible....
anyway..something to think about....

great work...can't wait to see it finished.

yo dude, hey i had an idea, cause I think you like the sicker the better, i was thinking when your finishing up the peice, you can add a slimy look to the brain, and have saliva coming out of humpty's mouth, i dont know, maybe you already had that in mind, but it seems like this peice needs to have a kind of slimy look to it, wel allright, its tight man, peace out

things can always get more disturbing, there is always room for more disfunction

what , we forgot the help thing ? I brought this up cause
like if he thinks he can finish the image for the contest in time
it would be cool if we got gathered a few bucks for Tommy for the
electric bill and stuff , so he don't have to worry about money
for the next month or so ...

Im sorry i havent seen this thread before, i LOVE your gruesome twist on the whole nursery rhyme story. Its what the shrek and other kids cartoons should have been if some psychotic cyber punk killer was the production designer.

Very cool indeed, cant wait for your next update, would love to see what you do with the background, you started on.

Keep it coming.:bounce:  :D
