I just had to scratch down an idea that came to mind. Please forgive the horrid anatomy. Thank goodness Amazon is delivering some books later this week... :)

Hello
I like your idea. Do I properly see that the eyes are stitched together? If yes, wicked idea. Hmm I think the space between the chest and the tail would need some more 'scaffolding' - more pipes, wires, whatever; for me it looks empty for now. Ah that is just one detail, don't listen to me. The scene is daylight, night, or maybe underground? Can't wait to see the next images. By the way, good luck

I made some modifcations to the pit-fighter idea a bit.

In this age, pit fighters are no longer mindless machineflesh beasts attacking one another relentlessly. Now, there are brains behind the fight...human brains.

Tethered to one another are the most ferocious fighting body and the keenest strategic intellect. The mind controls the body. In order to avoid any potential contradiction in neurological commands, the body's head has been removed and replaced with a core connected directly to the synaptic impulses of the controlling head.

The prize in the deadly battles pitting the greatest minds and bodies of the world? Union. After several single-elimination rounds of combat, the head is fused with the body and they no longer have to battle...in the arena.
The winning "coupled couple" are then used as part of a new breed of super-soldier.

Could the powers have gone about this fusion without the battles, and create their super-soldiers via conscription and force? Yes, but that wouldn't be much fun.

Just a quick proof-of-concept to test the refraction settings in Mental Ray. I used a stand-in head created for a different project.

A head I made today to go into the jar. I need to add ears and mess him up a bunch with some mechanical stuff.
More tomorrow....
