he wanted to protect her
from the images that haunted her dreams
leaving her in despair
from the curse that she had to live with
knowing but could do nothing about

no matter what it took
even if it's his heart
just to let her feel safer
just to let her be in peace

Awesome image, noah. Excellent choices in color and composition. The character designs are quite interesting, and the details draw your eye through the entire image. Incredible work.

Awesome work, I have seen a lot of artworks on my life, but only few of them transmit emotions like this you've made. I love it.

Great work, Noah

Technically I think it's very good.

What bugs me a bit is that, for such an emotional subject, your main characters don't show much emotion. They're in a nightmare, but they look like they're not paying much attention to it.

But like I said; very nice render.

this is DAMN fine work, if i DO say so out loud!! the two main characters are simply stunning. BUT. one thing that bugs me is that, for a nightmare, some of the screaming faces (especially the 2 on the right, between the edge and the girl's head) look too comical and cartoony to really be... scary. maybe im just fcuked up, but for the most part they look like something out of a disney or WB cartoon. (with the big bucked teeth and huge noses)

the one on the left, with his forehead bleeding into the canvas, that one has the right idea. human faces that are barely recongizable as "once-human" do the trick for me a bit more.

other than that, i bow before you!!!

Loved the colour palette, very beautiful, my only crit would be that her protecter is looking into dead space, personally I would have painted the guy looking at her. It is her that he is protecting right!

Very well done...

very tasty

I like the way the colour fills into the centre of the image where the teddy bear is being literally squeezed to death

nice touch

my favorite thing abou this image is the way it looks like it's 'finished' from the center out.

it's like you colored the girl, and desaturated the world around her. it fits with your poem too.

very good work!

Ilike it very much

Is that girl supposed to be young? She looks as old as him (20 something) yet she is holding a teddy bear. Make her look younger. Great work.

The poem refers to her dreams, I suspect that they are both in fact asleep and the images surrounding are representative of their dreams. This would explain why they show little emotion and their eyes are closed. It shows the protective and calming influence he has on her when dealing with her nightmares.

Excellent image, great use of colour and monotone to separate the two worlds.

WOW!

Your website's gallery (http://www.zemotion.net/galleryindex.html) is a must see for everyone here!

Your painter work reminds me of my favourite Japanese artist Katsuya Terrada (http://www.ex.org/articles/2001/2001.09.08-exclusive-terada.html) .

Please tell me when you publish an artbook! I want it!

It's pretty good. The faces are scary (I wouldn't want one of those guys to bite my forehead), and there's a good amount of details in the work. Yet I think it rather strage that everyone is so enthusiastic about is, and no-one notices the errors.
Noah: You can call it nitpicking, but maybe these comments can help you to refine your skills even more. Whatever suits you best :)

noticed that the guy's right arm is deformed. The thumb that is holding the ? is too short and thick.

The hand of the girl (that indeed looks like 20) is seen from the front, although it bends around the arm of the man. The wrist can't make such a corner.

The torso of the girl is too short in comparison to her head and the length of her arms.

the only crit i have which is not a technical thing would be, if the guy had his other hand around the girls neck on top of her hand, it would seem more like he was protecting her i think

I think it's fair enough that people use other art work as inspiration and reference but I feel that it's common courtesy to credit the artist you're using.

In this case I notice that the screaming heads are near perfect copies of Carlos Huante's work depicted in Spectrum9 p.141

I hope you will acknowledge this in this thread, it would be a shame to detract from your obvious skill by ignoring the input others have made to this piece.

Ian

Amazing picture. The only thing is that The "guy" doesn't very much look like a guy to me. Maybe the skin is a bit too smooth, I don't know.
