Your concept sounds interesting. I look foreward to the sketch.

beautifull eye, but you aren't allowed to use it in the finished picture :hmm:

The eyes are amazing. iC4-: What are you talking about? You can texture your BOB, it just wont be judged.

I like the bear touch. Very Jhonen Vasquez in mood! (If anybody reads his work here)

hypercube
07-07-2002, 12:12 PM
Damn..that is crazy, freaky..dig it. The face made me think of dark crystal, but then the stuff on the back made me think of labyrinth, with those people stuck to all their stuff. It would be cool if it was more a conglomeration of stuff like that, or a few more things tied to the outside of the bundle. Really want to see where this goes.

P.S. erilaz - JV rules..Zim was genius, JTHM rocked, loved Squee and I Feel Sick too. Hope he keeps rolling.

pit
07-07-2002, 12:34 PM
thanks for the comments
@ Erilas: Will be my next reading - thanks for the tip.
@ Hypercube: There´s going to be loads of stuff on top - the sketch didn´t show;)

hi,
nice modelling! :)
i'd make the feet more detailed.
that's it!:D

pit
07-07-2002, 06:48 PM
@ OZ:  thanx - this means a lot - coming from you - a true master!
@ derwolptinger: ur right - the feet and legs are far from done!!! I sort of concentrate on the overall pic right now and will go into detail later - thanks for commenting:)

woohoo! Love that sh**. What makes a little question is that thing on his side. F*** don't know that word? *rettungsring*?? Funny. Keep up that good concept.

Let's see how much stuff you can fit on there Pit! That is amazing.

The bait - very WIP!

pit
07-14-2002, 10:44 AM
PS: As always crits and comments are more than welcome. I would welcome some suggestions on what to put on the back of the beast. Thanxx!

erilaz
07-14-2002, 10:53 AM
How about putting a ballon animal on there? Always a good thing to have. Oh and a gravy boat. :D

I like the fish. To add to the excessive burden thing, why not have bait for the bait as well? Like a smaller fish!

pit
07-14-2002, 02:43 PM
@ erilaz: a baloon animal is a really sweet idea - i´ll dedicate it to you!:) Thanks for posting - crits and comments are rare! :annoyed:

hey pit! sieht doch super aus! der fisch is auch echt cool! ich versteh deine frage was er denn auf dem rücken tragen soll aber nicht , sonst würd ich dir vielleicht auch was vorschlagen-denn der trägt doch schon was oder?

Bezerker75
07-14-2002, 02:53 PM
does this creature walk or swim? or both?...I think if he swims it could be cool to have some type of sails... that can be folde up for when he walks...just a suggestion...

pit
07-14-2002, 03:01 PM

Everytime I see your entry, it gets crazier and crazier! I love it! You're always adding cool new things that keeps me guessing.

And the salesperson is very well modelled too! I'd buy encyclopaedias from him anyday!
(Do salespeople still sell encyclopaedias? Or is that all on the internet now? :D )

pit
07-16-2002, 09:38 AM
Thanks. Don´t worry i´ll give him a laptop!

derwolpertinger

Danke dir!!

Pit this piece is coming along fantastically. I can't comment on your workmanship because the modeling looks fantastic. Your owner/salesman reminds me of the Monkey king from the old chinese fable about how buddhisim was brought to China.

Awseome work so far pit.  :applause:

pit
07-16-2002, 03:50 PM
@ZrO-1: Thank you!!! wow! :blush:
He might be better as Monkey King - hmmmm- or he should bring Pigsy along as the cook! And then "Journey to the West".

An "Alarmbird" - it will sit on top of the burden (on the barrel) - a (heavy) bell will be attached to the ribbon. Will update tomorrow- and I know the feet look like something outta Chicken Run - so don´t look at the feet!

Magarnigal
08-02-2002, 03:02 AM
Fantastic!

My only crit would be that the composition of the luggage on the turtleman's back is a bit boring. I would enlarge the barrel + bird and move them forward, to bring the mass of the luggage more in front of the turtleman's centre of gravity. Turtleman looks great, he really has a sense of carrying a massive load, but his burden doesn't quite match.

Great work tho!

Michael

08-02-2002, 08:41 AM
Brilliant Pit. Brill-i-ant. I mean that. Your work is great.

Just keeps getting better. Those buckles, and the build up of stuff is going so well! :D

erilaz
08-02-2002, 10:28 AM
Oh and Pit, just to add to the burden insanity, I really, really, really want you to add a kitchen sink.

It's only right, after all.:D

pit
08-03-2002, 11:08 AM
Thank you all for comments:) It´s great encouragement for me!
I´m running out of time here - panic!!! - got a lot of other stuff to attend to at the moment:D so I really need some c+c here to speed things up a little. Damn - i wanna finish this!

erilaz
08-03-2002, 12:03 PM
Okay! Crits for you, just because I'm nice! :p

I'm not sure the bump on the flag works. I think it would be fine without it. Or maybe lessen it.

Personally, I don't think chains that are circular really work. that's just me though. Maybe more of a chain-like shape on the links.

That's all. Really. The rest is perfect.

And where's my kitchen sink?!!!

pit
08-03-2002, 01:52 PM
@erilaz: - i´m working on it - no sweat, but mind you that is an complex object - so you´ll have to be a little patient. ;) Ok? Thanks for c+c - u seem to be the only one looking at my BoB! - the bump on the flag will be replaced, but i guess i won´t find time to change the chains!!

ok - here´s a closeup on the BoB

pit
08-03-2002, 01:54 PM
added more stuff on top ...

erilaz
08-03-2002, 01:58 PM
Hey, no pressure on the sink! You take your time (well, in the little time we all have left!).:D

I don't care if I'm your only contributor at the moment! Your model rocks!:wavey:

Thanks erilaz - You keep me going!!!!!

swag
08-03-2002, 04:36 PM
wau - thats great - the bird is very nice - how u make the feather of the bird (cinema)

pit
08-03-2002, 04:47 PM
Thanks swag - the feathers are made with Hair Department and Solid Spline. The trick is to delete the geometry that hair department produces-> but keep the splines -> and drop a solid spline tag on them with your preffered thickness-> now it´s a post thingie and will occur at rendertime! That´s all!

he pit, der letzte render gefällt mir seeeehr gut!! echt spitze! ich liebe die tausend details die du da gemodelt hast. man merkt halt dass du auch sehr viel zeit da reingesteckt hast. also gibts dafür von mir ein paar

08-04-2002, 12:05 PM
@ erilaz: no salesperson due to lack of time, but watch out for him, he might just occur in another forum at a later point -> will finish the model!

@derwolpertinger: Thanks mate!

I´m trying out different light setups and they all suck - major:annoyed:
These are the times where you really are told that you are a newbie!!!
