View Full Version : Machineflesh 2D Challenge Entry: Kirt Stanke
Kirt Stanke has entered the Machineflesh 2D Challenge.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do yet, but my first idea would be to do something that addresses homelessness. I'm thinking a self contained unit/person that recycles trash and/or their own waste to be used as energy to keep them alive, warm and a functional part of their society.
I'll have to get to sketching to see if this works out into something or I end up taking a different approach to this challenge. It's definately going to be fun.

03-18-2004, 04:30 AM
Good luck mate ;)
I'm on it too, eheh it's been such a long time
good luck Kirt! can't wait to see what you come up with
First sketch with just some basic ideas thrown down. Expect a lot of changes and possibly a completely different idea from me.
Nature of the beast ... I seldom hit on something that I like the first, second or twentieth time I sketch. :D
Thanks for your support friends.

O_o It's a great design!!
The best: the internal combustion motor.:applause:
03-19-2004, 02:47 AM
excellent design, could imagine this dude protecting his part of the nuclear wastelands.
He needs some tattoos ....lol
03-19-2004, 06:33 AM
Looking good, one of the better concepts here.
03-19-2004, 07:40 AM
Nice one kirt, looking forward to seeing the next update.
Good luck btw
03-19-2004, 08:55 AM
Hi Kirt................That's a very well thought out "Fresh" concept..........Lot's of detail.Internal combustion is a first,good one...................
03-19-2004, 12:39 PM
Ah, found it! Just setting up my camp Kirt, can't wait:thumbsup:
03-19-2004, 12:43 PM
Wow, great work! wanna see more!!:bounce:
03-19-2004, 01:26 PM
wooha.. ca't wait to see more of this.. :surprised
This one is a bit of wishful thinking on my behalf. I've been raising kids for the past 9 years (9 years of diaper changing - pew!).
Not a serious idea, just having a bit of fun. I have 3 months ... expect a bit of goofing off. Hehehehe
And one more idea I had (inspired by a gamer that I work with). This one actually isn't too bad for a final concept.
I might toy around with this one a bit more. Still debating which I'll go with for my final entry (homeless guy or the GameBoy).
03-19-2004, 03:39 PM
WOW! I love the little baby! ha ha ... nice! :)
03-19-2004, 05:40 PM
i love the toxic waste outlet on the baby!!
The new 'easy-care' baby system...
03-19-2004, 05:48 PM
Nice to see you in here and nice and funny concepts thou non of them convinces me but I know there are coming lots more :)
03-19-2004, 06:17 PM
Wow Ive seen some disturbingly ugly babies in my time but that takes the cake!
03-19-2004, 06:27 PM
I second clepto on that one.
My boyfriend wanted the gaming upgrade...
03-19-2004, 06:56 PM
We meet again :D
Funny ideas, though I find the baby to be rather disturbing:surprised
I'm looking forward to seeing what you cook up this time:beer:
03-19-2004, 07:41 PM
The suggestion for the baby toxic waste could change the world! :D
Another idea ...
This one is a bodyguard for nerds. The machinery isn't as evident in this I'd have to redesign more for the challenge.
But basically, the body suit worn by Poindexter controls the body movements of a large host-bodyguard (ex football player or wrestler).
03-20-2004, 11:03 PM
As a father of a child, I think your 'baby Idea' is absolutly fantastic! :-D your best on this.
03-21-2004, 12:10 AM
Funny concept, i especially love the gameboy system, simple and great idea :D
03-21-2004, 12:54 PM
U are a sick, disturbing freak!!!!!
I love u:love:
Damn this will be a hard challenge. So many creative entries. And Kirt no crits from me right now. U now I love your stuff:thumbsup:

AP - Alemeda, CA
2020, the year of clear vision, it's ironic that morality reaches a new level of obscurity. Applied Robotics Institute of Alemeda (ARIA) Engineers are arrested for running an underground robotics cock-fighting ring. Animal rights activists have become enraged at the senseless and cruel mutilations of live chickens that have been augmented with robotic battle enhancements.
"It's just sick." stated a member of PETA, "These techno-geeks have taken the sport of BattleBots and perversly married it to the already illegal activity of cock-fighting. It's a sad day for animal activists and the human race as a whole. I mean ... what's next? Whale/submarine racing?"
Representatives from ARIA could not be reached for comment.
Introducing the gas powered beaver!
Loved by lumberjackers everywhere!
03-24-2004, 08:11 PM
Hahahaha that beaver is simpley brilliant :bounce:
03-24-2004, 08:26 PM
6th sketch = GREAT! couldnt stop laughing...

I love the lumberjack! :D
03-25-2004, 01:15 AM
LOL.. Im lovin the beaver being canadian and all..
the chickens great too!!
03-25-2004, 01:22 AM
the scientist gets a ten outa ten too lol
03-25-2004, 04:10 AM
Wow, those are some awesome ideas, and pieces...I was thinking about possible uber gamer ones...but I lack the style.
03-25-2004, 04:27 AM
The Beaver is my favorite.....excellent:thumbsup:
03-25-2004, 06:22 AM
The chicken is great. You could take 2 bionic chickens and throw in some bionically adjusted homeless men around the edges of a small cock fighting ring.
Thanks! I think I am going to go with the beaver idea. It had me chuckling as well. I noticed a couple other chickens being done already so that one gets ruled out immediately.
I'm going to start fleshing out the lumberjack character and maybe some more detail drawings of the beaver. Then I'll get to work on composition and some sort of final layout.
03-25-2004, 07:07 AM
That beaver is an excellent idea. Very, very funny
Just make sure there will be some major mechanical adjustments on the beaver, or it will only be a concept of a lumberjack, using a beaver as a chainsaw.
03-25-2004, 09:17 AM
they're all great kirt!!
03-25-2004, 09:27 AM
That beaveridea is hilerious! I will enjoy following the progress on that one.
You´re a very sick man!
03-25-2004, 01:49 PM
Really like your concept... they are original, well drawn and funny!!! Congratulation
03-25-2004, 05:53 PM
kirt in action.. who can stop him? :D
love the beaver kirt... great idea and drawing, i can literally hear him hacking away
03-25-2004, 07:27 PM
LOVE it! RFLMAO!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
03-25-2004, 08:20 PM
Kirt, you're a genius and a sick bastard!
The motorized beaver is great! It would be really cool to make this look like some sort of advertisement. I'm pretty sure there's not a single high-gloss Lumberjack Magazine who wouldn't love to publish it ;)
magicm - No fair reading my mind. I was just about to do up a layout design for the beaver ad.

Location: lotsa' cows, CA
Ontario? Chino Hills? :curious:
There's cows in LA too? Dang, they must have migrated south through the grapevine during the winter. :D
Had a little bit of time at work today so I made up this quick color sketch advertizing one of the gas powered beaver's features.
(click on illustration for full size image - image compression looks bad here)

:applause: :applause: :applause:
03-26-2004, 09:31 AM
I like the idea of an advertisement. It'd be an original answer to the brief that becomes suddenly obvious within the machineflesh theme...well...seems obvious now you've done it...
03-26-2004, 11:11 AM
"... new self clean function" .... GREAT!!!! :scream:
03-26-2004, 11:13 AM
:applause: where can i place an order?
03-26-2004, 11:26 AM
NICE BEAVER! LOL
Excellent! self cleaning, But have u thought of safety features like Kickback saftey cut off switch and operater protection sheild and for stability a neck handle. I have used a chainsaw and they scare the shit outa me, but this thing looks dangerous LOL
Excellent work very entertaining
03-26-2004, 11:39 AM
