just an idea, theres a purpose and a story behind it, but i think im going to come up with a compltely different character for the concept idea

this is the idea im going with i suppose. its a mechanically enhanced librarian, he has a tub connected to his back to hold books, another pair of very long mechanical arms to retrieve and return books to thier places on the shelves, binoculars and enhanced viewing in place of eyes, so he can read titles from far away, and a strong pair of mechanical legs to support the large load of books. also note the breathing mask/filter system to keep the dust out of his breathing, and a dataport connected to his brain going to a main computer for easy record keeping of the books
Novel approach (yes, the pun was intended, and yes I'm disgusted with myself).
Perhaps you could add something to his structure that could do away with the ladder altogether?

yes, that is a very neat idea. Certainly original.
Yes, nice idea and original.
I have to agree with AJ_23 about the ladder.
You could actually have the ladder be apart of his body.
For example, a pole that he slides up and down on but also
allows him to side down the length of the bookcase.
It is just an idea. Good luck, hon!
I like to see what you come up with.
