Camera matching? Or applying UVs to a surface based on camera angle? What app are you using?

Applying UVs to a surface based on camera angle
I'm on XSi but I'm sure it's the same for other apps

Pardon my asking, but why do you want a tutorial? Seems like either the feature is there (documented in the manual) or it isn't. Although I guess you could have researched it and found it doesn't exist, so perhaps you're looking for a workaround? It would be helpful if you state what you're tyrying to achieve, and you've done so far, show that you've done your homework and are narrowing down the question... otherwise in my experience most people won't respond. As far as framing questions goes, this is a good read (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html).

Anyhow I don't have XSI, so I can't really advise.

Sometimes the manual is not enough to learn something, that's why tutorials exist.
I have a photo of a part of a street and I modelled almost the same thing in 3D and now I'd like to apply the photo on the 3D objects, but it is not easy to match the 2.
There may be some tricks about finding the lens used in the photocamera, setting the 3D camera like the real camera, and setting the picture ratio, aspect ratio, etc. :hmm:

Ah, OK this info helps a lot.

I don't know of any tutorials about this off hand. But I can tell you that it can be difficult to match a linear UV-projection with the curved barrel-distortion that a real-world camera's lens has.

You can learn about modeling/texturing from photos (photogrammetry) at these sites.

Some good info here about photogrammetry.

I have a Maya camera mapping tutorial on my site: www.mikebreymann.com

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Alpha Sue, it's a very good tutorial!
I found some others in a Google search.
