View Full Version : Mental Ray: Doesn't render when texture maps applied

Basically, as the title says, when I try to render a scene with MR, I get a red box around the render area and nothing happens.

The scene renders via maya software with no problems, and MR will render the scene if only basic shaders (grey lambert for example). But, when I change the shaders back to the textures I painted, it's a no go.

Any ideas?

Are you using tif files for texture maps? If so change them to tga for some reason MR doesn't like tif files

Thanks for the quick reply, great idea.

I actually back-tracked and got a tif to work. What MR seems to dislike is LZW compression -- when I left the tif uncompressed it showed up. whatever.

I think I'll stick to tga, hehe :)
