huh? from what i see from your avatar, i cant get it.. you dont know?
srry if you really dont,.. , dont want to insult you..
but when you are in edit mesh, or edit poly - when you than select a polygon, you can slide down in the edit poly/or mesh option bar, and there somewhere is mat id.. id something.. it has a nr 1- 2 or -3 or 4 what ever... just select the polys of one side of the object, than go to the id, change the nr , when it is one, make it 2 , just something else. , than go to material editor, and put another texture on the selected polys and your done.
with multi sub object material, you can give the material an id to.. so it always will justr have effect on that typical id nr.

ooooouuuuhhh..... :wise:
there are no other side of a PLANE in 3dsmax , so there is no polygons to select on the other side of a plane therefor it cant render the other side, only after I put 2-SIDED ON in the material it renders the other side of the plane but with same material as the polygoned side....
I use 3ds max 5 btw...
SO please help or do I have too explain better??

just select all polys in your object, clone and flip them and assign a new material to'em..

Hi Ac0rN,
Perhaps if you put a twoSided material instead of a standard one, just change the sub material Facing and back.
It would do the trick
