I am developing a full length 3D animated movie.
The movie is a SCI-FI action adventure.

At this point I am trying to put together a 15 min pilot.
With future plans to develop it into a feature animated film.
The final product will be intended to be sold on DVD

The video will be updated as footage is added.

The video footage contains all the “completed” shots edited together with
sound and final composite. The reason I say “completed” in quotes is because
in my eyes they are about 95% done and all may be subjected to change at any time…
But for now they are done.

 I really like your work BOY1DA. The kid models are very cute and lovable. I hope you get your project off the ground. I think you will do well in achieving your goals. You are a hard worker who knows what he wants and goes out and gets it and I like that about you, amongst other things ;). I'm proud of you, keep up the good work, and never quit.

And always listen to your girlfriend even when she's wrong, to you, she's always right, LOL. :bounce:

This is great!!
The team now includes 3 or 4 modelers ,2or 3 animators ,a renderer ,and if tdotmsiq is in ,then a sound guy. The team looks like its coming together ,and i think most of us are familiar with maya ,Omar ,i think we might need to be working with Maya!:)

Hey all, Thanx for you interest in the project and your participation in this forum.

The team is growing everyday. So lets get this show on the road. In order for us to get into the flow I will start off with our first animation test. This will help us to develop a work flow with each other. It will let us see who is good at what as well as show technical issues and so on...

From what I see so far, you will be able to use any program of your choice if you are Modeling, however you must be able to export you models to the program that will be the render program. All models will be rigged and textured in the render program (3DS MAX or MAYA) . I haven't decided on what program it will be yet. The deciding factor will be based on the skills of the artists ability to use one or the other. It will not be based on the quantity of artist that can use one or the other. For example: if we have more artists that can use maya but no one is that good at rigging or mapping or animation in maya because they are all modelers, and we have one or two real good 3Ds MAX people that can do the above real good then we will go with max, or vice versa.

I am a MAX user, but so far we seem to have more MAYA users. I am not very skilled in MAYA but I am willing to use MAYA as the main program. I will still create my models in 3Ds MAX and export to MAYA so you MAYA users may have to give me some tips.

So far we seem to have mostly modelers and animators. We need a few 2D artists to join. We need concept artists and storyboard artists. So if any 2D artists out there wants to jump in on that please do !!!

Okay, now on to our test project.

Since we don't have any concept artist at this point. We can start with my model of the main female character "TERA" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1454925&postcount=92) . It has no rig or textures..... I will send it to anybody who wants to try their hand at rigging it and anyone willing to try to texture it (Maya or MAX)

For all others who want to try there hand at modeling (Any software) we will try to put "TERA" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1454925&postcount=92) in a futuristic computer lab. We will need to make props such as a main computer console desk (http://www.3d-afex.com//REF_IMAGES/COMP_DESK_PIX.jpg) , computer racks, and any other strange computer gizmos. Once again we have no concept artists, so if anyone wants to try to draw a few raw sketches and post them to get ideas do so. If you don't want to draw your rough idea then you can just make rough box models to show what you are going for. Post the rough renders in this forum so we can get a feel of the composition. We can all make models to fill the spaces where it is needed. For others who want to add props to the composition, they may do so.

For the animators. Once we get a version of "TERA" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1454925&postcount=92) with good rigging we can then try some animation tests.
I have voice recordings and facial morph targets for "TERA" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1454925&postcount=92) so we can try to do lip sync animations as well.

We will try to put it all together, the final scene should be a few seconds. Once again keep in mind this will be a test so if it is not perfect the first time, no big deal, we will work at making it better as we move along.

I am also in the process of creating a new web site for this project. It will help us to communicate, send files and showcase our individual work on the project with our own user profiles, and so on.

I will Keep you posted.
THANX, Omar. AKA BOY1DA.

YOu need storyboard artists and 2d concept artists.....

Well go to www.joinedartists.com or www.digitalwebbing.com and show them what you have done so far, namely your models and I guarantee you'll find an abundance of helpers.

You can also try www.eatpoo.com

But I think digitalwebbing and joined artists would be best for you.

Grrr....this sucks...

Im an excellent character modeler and mainly prefer to animate, but...Im a Lightwave user :hmm: and the majority here is mostly maya or max.

I would love to help with animation but it seems that wont be the case.

Although, I will still hang around and if possible help with some enviornments and such but I will continue to look for a animation project to help with.

Hi, thanks Omar for you kind words in your PM.
I'm waiting from you any final concepts to start modeling. I know it's soon to talk about lighting and rendering, but if you wanna showcase some models I'd love to try.
I'm learning some animation too, so maybe I'll be able to contribute there too.

For animation, I think it's not hard to use another program you're not used to work with.

ps: thanks Flog, it seems that this project is interesting and the guys involved are skilled ... and most important, they are cool

I'm currently working on my own project. So lets all get busy.

Lazhar, I'm glad you joined this project. I wish you the best, you are definately a master digital architect. I love your work.

Just remember keep it simple and have fun. I hope you have a script already. If you don't maybe I can help with that too!!

Hey kid mesh i believe that Lightwave supports FBX as does Maya and MAX, they all support that format, has anyone thought of putting this in their pipeline.

They all, also do BVH for animation and such. So you may go that route. FBX can be used between each other, and if you have motionbuilder, every animator should, you are in luck!!!

"Kid mesh", The images here are based on your first model. Some suggestions I have are that the corners should be sharper to give it a more industrial feel. Try to break the chair into parts and focus on the details of each individual pieces and then assemble them. Add other fine details such as, bolts, rivets, electric cables, and glowing lights etc. Try to think heavy factory, old rusty equipment. I will look for reference images from movies like "Matrix" and "Final Fantasy".

If you need help with anything just ask.

Chair Update

To try and come close to the concept art I started over, and this is still in the early stages. I have plans to add some more wires, bolts, LED's etc once the seat and the bottom portion of the chair is finished.

As noted in the image, I was thinking about animation while creating it and based on the concept art, the back portion didnt lend to too many options for animating...so I took some liberty in desiging it a little different in the back.

Although, "BOY1DA" if you prefer the original concept I can change it.

I also include a 360 animation of the chair as well...once I add the seat and the stand it should really start looking like a chair :)

nice chair,

BOY1DA
05-28-2004, 07:30 PM
I agree with what you are saying "Zongo"
I was thinking more like the corners or feel of the
shape of like a 2004 Jetta/Bora. That car it pretty square
at the same time very round at the corners.

I will PM you some examples soon "Kid Mesh"
or you can look at "Sandpiper" machineflesh model style. (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/5/2850/2850_1084152507_large.jpg) My style is similar to his.
Look at his corners, very smooth. 3D light looks better on round
corners.

I assume you used subdivision modeling on
your first model, and on this one you did not. You should keep using
subdivision/smoothing, this will help keep the same look that I use on
my models.

I am also working on some other stuff for the other modelers to work on.
I will post that later today.

Kid-Mesh
05-28-2004, 08:36 PM
Not a problem, Once Im finished modeling the whole thing then I can go back and subdivide certain pieces to acquire that look...its not a problem.

Here are a few more pics....still aways to go with the details...currently working on some springs as well.

These are the rough layouts of the computer room.

Lazzhar, if possible can you reproduce the rough layout below, if not i'll send you a copy of the file. The idea that I have is, once the models of the props are complete I will send them to you so that you can arrange them into the proposed room. Since your very skilled at lighting and rendering I figured that you would be the best person to do that. I've seen some of you're work and they are very nice and it would be kool if you could model the proper interior stuctures like the, doors, support beams, floor panels and window ledges and so on.

To all others who are interested in modeling, feel free to post some of your ideas of things you would like to see in the room. It will help to speed up the process.

Ideas of things that are neccassary in the room are, computer monitors, wall lights, rack mounted computers etc...

KID MESH, you should make the back of the chair more laid back, right now it looks like its straight up at 90 degrees, it should be closer to like a 80 degree angle. The width of the chair peices should be thinner and the part where the person sits should be wider.

Hey ,if we are getting the light and monitor support to move in a circular motion ,and we want ,som i guess old clunky thing ,we could have 2 motors ,one on each side of the chair ,and a light turns on when it begins to work ,and its loud and clunky(of course during dialog it gets quieter) and the motion of the support should go by gears ,like a whole big clunky ,cluttery gear system!

What do ya think ,i hope you get what im saying ,also ,Omar ,i got my friend who is a concept designer(he is amazing) to help out.

This is for all you modelers. These are some reference pix from the movie Fianl Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Hopefully these pix will give and idea of what is in my head visually. This is the type of look I would like the room to have. The look I am going for in not as photo-realistic as Final Fantasy.I am going for a more of a comic book look but not a cartoony look. The images of the kids that I first posted will be re-modeled in the near future to look less cartoony.

Hey lazzhar, looking good so far.

A few things to keep in mind.
You do not have to do the room all in one piece.
The walls do not need to be subdivided. because there will be many things on the wall.

Your next focus should be working on heavy sliding doors, door jams and window panes with glass,
and a few heavy support columns along the wall. wires and hanging light fixtures.

This is just a smoothed version, I wanted tp confirm if you want that rounded corners or not. Now I know what you want. Dont worry about the subdivided walls, it's just because the smooth.

I'm not good at all in design and stuff like that so if you have any reference or drawn concept it woul be fine, otherwise I'll try make one from my poor imagination.

BOY1DA
05-31-2004, 08:00 PM
Don't worry too much about the design of the fine details,
Just put place holders in , like boxes or simple primitives
for now, we can model better ones and replace them later.
right now just focus on the placement of major objects in the room. And scale of the room and objects.

BOY1DA
06-02-2004, 06:25 AM
Sorry that I am not able to provide better reference or concept images at this time.
like I said before, I'm not a concept artist.
It's much faster for me to model an idea then for me to draw it.
But I encourage you all to try your hand at drawing your ideas
and working with me to develop them until we are on the same page.

Kid Mesh , I hope that I am able to help you out with understanding
a bit more about my modeling style, the design of your chair was very good.
I modeled this chair so you can take a look at the types or curves and corner
angles that I use, square and at the same time round, if that makes any sense.

In the future, I will try to work a bit more with you and break it down
into smaller parts that we can send back and forward to collaborate on.
Maybe we can try to work in real time on MSN ?

It is very important that we all have a consistent look for the models

well just an update for now,

Okay, here are some reference images that I found on the web. They are images of random machines and factories.

They are to give you all an idea of the type of props and feel on the robotic lab the the character is working in.

The first image I posted is of power turbines. The turbines have a the type of shapes and detail that I'm going for.
You can copy and mix and match parts to come up with your own machine....

So far I've been thinking about the plot and want folks on the forum to see the ideas.

The time is the future.
The location at this time is Antartica, a scientific outpost. There is also a colony. Since it is the future, and time has past men have built colonies in Antartica. they utilize volcanic heat from the ground and natural gases found in Antartica. During the summertime temperatures are still low but children go out and play in the snow.

On one such trip our young heroes are traveling in their landspeeder. As they are traveling along there is an earthquake and they fall into a cavern, only to find a mysterious figure locked in a block of ice. The children are not alone. The earthquake also unlocked a monster from its icey cage. Its a 5 tentacled monster, octopus looking thing. It collapses though from weakness. The children eventually get the block of ice and the alien back to the lab.

We find out later that the astronaut and the 5 tentacled monster crash landed here together. For years the government lab keeps the man and alien in a catatonic state. They run tests and experiments as they have found the mans dna altered. One scientist, uncle to the young girl discovers this altered dna could prove to cure all sorts of diseases. The man and the alien both share a similiar DNA.

The scientist discovers that the alien and astronaut hold deep secrets a secret that could cure his son of Mutanitist, a disease that spread for many years created by a viral attack.

The girl grows up around the her uncle's lab. She visits her discovery everyday over the years he was there, developing a love interest in him. Imagining who this slumbering handsome man is like.

The high officials finally after several years get word of the discovery. The mysterious president wants the project canned and the man and alien eliminated. He sends in soldiers....

Okay I'm peicing it together but would like some input into the characters and the names of the characters. If it is going to be a pilot it should be well rounded. Everyone has a story, each character has a life, I want to know what makes these characters tick, what you envision them doing, and also if you want the group involved in development to get some insigth from them.

Do we want comedy, children's story, action, etc? Having the children grow up is kind of difficult. Maybe less of a time lapse, between the government coming in and such. They are still children when the government comes in.

Great news!!

For everyone working on this team. I have just recently completed the projects portion of my new website. And i wanted to have this project as part of it ,not only as a test to see how it works but also as a helper and orginizer of the project. This section of the site includes your own personalized page on the site ,with links to things you are involved in ,a forum ,live chat sessions and a professional project managment system including
to-do's ,messages ,emails ,PM calender and a whole bunch of neat features.

So if you like the idea ,then we need everyone on the project to join ,so email me at daniel@daniel-o.tk and i will give you a list of info you must give me so i can give you an account.

Hey all,

I just wanted to post a raw video clip basically an animatic
of the outline of the start of the movie.
I made this clip just to give people an Idea of who
the characters are and where the story takes place...

Keep in mind it was done a while back so many things will
be updated in the final movie.

I am now working on a newer version of the female character.
I will post that in time.

But I still need lots of help with the rest of the room she will be in.
And all the props and so on. Thanks to all that helped so far.

I am also still on the look out for 2D concept artist and storyboard artists.

You might wanna right click this one it's kinda big......

Wow!! You really are serious about this project. Very good work!! What are you using to Animate in?

I do love where you are going, just a few points to make in getting the flow down.

The whole kid scene is great, do not change except add what you need and such as far as animation, but I love the way it goes and then right into the credits as it fades out.

You said you want them looking in a microscope and such which is great way to begin. Gives it a sci-fi seal.

The alarm of course goes off, we go into a scene of her changing. do the pan down the vent, and then it goes to Patrick getting ready while the alarm is going off.

Somewhere cut scenes are needed to introduce Ker more and that he is awakening. Maybe some cut scenes to the lab where you see his hand move and such, eyes open, something to show he woke up. Just a little more flow. Like all of the sudden he is fighting, how do we know he even woke up.

This is a great story waiting to happen. I'm glad to see it going good. Let me know if more help is needed.

BOY1DA
06-25-2004, 05:45 PM
Like I always tell you, you have a real good understanding of what I'm going for. and the idea you have about the waking up thing is just what I was missing.

I knew I needed something for that but , I kind of brushed it off, but you are right. I was even thinking I should make him have a kind of dream of the back story, but very faded, like voices and sounds in his head..........

I hope you got my e-mail of the character breakdown ?

Also, can I have a go at rigging TERA? I'll have to do it in Maya.

Yes, there is a plot, I don't really like to post too much
of my story ideas because I don't want to give away what is going to happen.
However I am also willing to tell anybody who asks...
Just to give everyone a better idea of what I'm working towards
for this first part of the project.
Well the whole pilot takes place in one main indoor location.
I want to give it a real closed in claustrophobic feel.
kind of like the feel of aliens 1 and 2.
Except it's not on a space ship, it takes place in an old abandon
robot factory. The story starts out as seen trough the eyes of
Tera Alice Kaine. The viewers are meant to take the trip and identify with her.
Tera is like an urban version of "RIPLEY" in alien.
When the movie starts we see Tera and two of the other main characters
as children. The part that I am trying to animate right now is
when Tera is grown up, in the middle of some trouble with the authorities.
She is conducting an illegal experiment.(trying to bring "KERR" back to life)

So that's where I am.
That was the the best place to start this project.
Because the scene is a pretty simple one, not much hard animation.
It's just Tera sitting in a chair talking to a scientist on the intercom system.
This scene is perfect to help to develop the main feel and look of the movie.
It's just a good exercise of all the disciplines of 3D animation/modeling/Rendering.
And will help me to develop the work flow.
It is just pretty much a vanity shot and to help
set up what is to come and who are the players.
Action wise nothing really happens in this shot.
But what Tera says is everything, it is very important to let the viewer
know what is going on.
I am trying very hard not to stray off and do things that are not related to this scene.
I am always very tempted to just jump to the action stuff. But it won't really flow
if this scene is not done right the whole movie won't make sense.
After this is done we can move on to the action stuff. HOOORAAYYY !!!

I would really luv it, if you helped me with the storyboards.
I have done a few but very poorly, you may jump ahead in the story
in the case of the storyboards, because the storyboard artist has
to be a few steps ahead of the CG artists.

I would really like it for someone to animate and rig Tera for me.
But because of what I have so far, I will only use 3Dstudio max
for animation and rigging then rendering.
I use a lot of plug-ins and procedural maps that will not convert into any other software.
If you want to try your hand at it in max then let me know.

THANX,OMAR.

This is a post of some of the tweeks I've been working on .
Tera's new hands are made by Mike Nash, because I hate to model hands :argh:
I had to make a bit of adjustments to the hand model, because Mike's model was a bit too real
to fit with the style of Tera, so I had to tone down a bit of the mesh details.
This is my attempt at trying to texture map them .

Original model image.

http://www.3d-afex.com/H20WIP/MN_hands.jpg

Here are the images of the adjusted hand model not much change to the mesh
I made her fingernails shorter, as well as made her hands a bit chubbier
and made some of the tendons/bones in the hand less visible...
I also had to create the arm and make them fit together with the hand and textures.

Very nice stuff. I actually think that long hair would look a bit better on Terra or maybe mid long (a bit longer then in the pic) but that's just my opinion.

BTW, is it normal that I'm not seeing you on msn anymore BOY1DA???

BOY1DA
09-27-2004, 05:24 PM
I agree with you,Mike is working on it so the hair is still very much a
work in progress. so it takes a bit of work to get from my brain to his.

As well keep in mind that Tera is a "tom boy", and works with a lot of machines
so long hair would be dangerous. Also she will be in a lot of battles
She has short hair so her enemies can't have an advantage by pulling her hair in a fight.

Yea, it is very normal for me to not use MSN.
I have tons of work to do and it can be very distracting.
I also find that a lot of people tend to add me to their MSN
for no reason and never say who they are or even say anything,
That annoys me. so I tend to stick to other forms of communication.
like E-mails PM and this thread.

BOY1DA
10-18-2004, 10:25 PM
Yea the head animation is just a test to see how the skin moves on the bones
and to see if the head movements will effect the morph targets when she turns her head.
some times if it is not done right the face will stretch when the character moves the head.
But that was not a problem in this case. As well it will be a good animation to test hair
dynamics if I decide to do hair dynamics....... I think I'm going to try to rig her arms next.
I'm really bad at rigging so that should be interesting !?!?!?!

GuillaumeV
10-19-2004, 07:03 PM
Hi there, very nice facial test although I think her lip looks a bit to big, but that might be just me :) . Also, about the arm skin pic you posted, the inside of the hand looks a bit to white/pale compared to her natural color but then again that might still be just me.

Other than that, great work ;), keep it up it rocks.

BTW, why was Kravit's post deleted??

BOY1DA
10-20-2004, 04:56 AM
Tera's mixed of many races so the lips thing probably will stay the same.
As well I like to have big eyes and mouths on my characters,
it helps to exaggerate the expressions, trying to bring more life to the faces.
The hand thing is also because of the same reason. But I most likely make her palms
darker because when I use really bright lights they really look really white.

And I think "Kravit" took down his post because the images were
taking up too much space on his server. I may post the images when

Well, not much actually, started school in spetember and I've got lots of work so little time to work on that scene, sorry for that.
I'll be on holyday on Friday afternoon so hopefully I'll be able to do some stuff.

Again sorry for that :(

Keep it up!!

Crazygui, no problem.....

E5 Thanx, hope to see you do some kool stuff for that new contest on CGtalk.

Just a small post to show the first test for the rigging of Tera's hand .
All I got to say is that rigging is a pain in the A$$.
If any of you guys know any good tips how to rig hands let me know.
I'm having problems with the skin in between the thumb and the pointer finger.
I still have to work on the rest of her arm

No contest for me....I can never think of something to make.

Plus, I got to give myself a crash course in character rigging.
I have learned a few new tricks since I put up my last post.
So I am going to spend the time to try to apply what I've learned to Tera.
As well to improve on my character skills over all.
It seems this project is slowly becoming the Tera Kain project.
But it is very important that she gets all the proper attention, because the story
revolves around her, for the rest of characters I will use what I've learned with her.
also for the rest of characters they have such small parts they don't have to be as functional.

I will try to post updates on the things I've learned as I go. If I have enough server
space to post them that is, because I'm out of space and most of the stuff
I'm working on now will have video files as the out put.
I've also made some video tutorials about the basics of Mesh smooth/sub-D modeling.
But didn't have space for them all, I have a few online but don't know if I will post them
or take them down , but I'll have to see....

I also have a few concepts that I'm dreaming up as I work on Tera.
But won't need them any time soon, but when I get to that stage
I will have to run them by you E5 to see what you think.

I also have a robot character that is almost done , but he is just sitting on my hard drive
waiting to be textured. so I'll be working on him next.
Thanks for dropping by, as well to everyone else that stops in to take a peek .

Tera is now fully rigged and ready for action.
maybe I will post some of her animation tests that I have done so far.
But for now, I will start to get back into building the scene she will be in, and completing
some other characters she will be interacting with.

Woooaaaa!!! That rocks!!! She looks killer! I'd love to see some tests you made. If the scene your are talking about is the one I was supposed to help you with I'll try to find the time to model some stuff for it but unfortunatly, I don't have lots of spare time at the moment.

I hope to be able to get some more so I can help you.

Again great job and post some more, I wanna see :p:)!

Hey Crazygui: Thanks for your post,
by the way you were right about her lip being a bit big.
So I made some new morph targets with it a bit smaller.
But I haven't shown the new lip in any of my video tests.

Well I've done tons of video tests.
But I promised myself that I would not post them until I get
some good animations of the model, but I don't think that will be anytime soon,
because I got to get back to modeling, but I'm in the process of looking for
an animator for Tera so I'll see how that goes.

Anyway, I'll just post one of the many rig tests I did so you can get an idea
of what I've done so far with Tera.

Keep in mind that the test is not how she will move in the movie.
This test is just to see if the rig works so don't pay any attention to
the funny movements and things she is doing.

In the video clip, I was testing her upper body.
I've made a setup so that Tera can breath, if you look close
you can see her lungs and chest contract and expand.

What you can't see in the test is the new facial setups I did.
I gave he much more expressions in the face, she can move
her eye brows up and down, and make faces like happy and sad
confused, and mad and so on.

She also has some hair animation features that I did not show,
her bangs move up and down in front of her eyes.
I will try to show that in the final movie.
It is very important to give Tera as much personality as possible
because you all will see the story from her eyes.

This is an update of Tera's Chair.I finally got to texture it.
I still have to do the back ....

Most of the sets in the movie will have a dull feel to it.
I'm thinking of reducing the saturation of the leather....
so that the characters will pop out, I really want the movie
to focus on the characters and mood...

LOL.
One size fits all, pick your breast size :p
Well the lung animation is just an exaggeration for the rig test.
Just to prove that the lungs work. In the actual movie
you will hardly see it, during an action scene you will not notice
if it is expanding our moving up and down. The reason I made that feature
is to help sell the action scenes, to show that she is tired
or scared..or even sad or proud...
it will be adjusted based on the action she is doing.
It only looks strange because she is standing perfectly still.

Good to have you guys drop in to pay a visit.
Its pretty quite in here most of the time. And you are always
welcome to drop in and say hello and give your 2 cents worth.
it helps to keep up the motivation of the project.

Well back to prop modeling for me, I should have some updates
by next week, I'm pretty fast when it comes to modeling props.
I got to make the "GIMBLE" for the chair and mount the monitors on it.

LATER DUDES .....

BOY1DA
01-19-2005, 12:13 AM
Well I started to model the gimble for the chair. I had to model the monitors over again,
because I formatted my system, and forgot to back up the file.
I wanted to put 4 monitors on the thing, but it looked like too much,
what you guys think ?

I will start to put some panels and some lose wires on the frame of the gimble.
I have to also complete the light and cooling fan on the top.
Once this contraption is done , I will start to block out the camera shots
for the final animation , to see what areas will need more detail...

Just incase you missed the older post for the gimble, here is a link
to the post, of what I'm trying to create, it also has a video file to show it's relation
to the room it will be in. (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1349158&postcount=50)

Alright everyone, heres your chance t contribute a little something to our humble movie. Basically, Tera (the main char.) is in her base when the power is turned off by mercernaries (mercs from now on). Your task is to write a short "gag" about her encounter with one or more of these mercs, what happens, and how she beats them. Leave it open. Ask for suggestions. Whatever. I'll be posting some of my stuff and asking your opinion. Also, if you dont want to do a fight scene you can tell us how you think se turns the power back on. Heres a "gag" of mine, tell me what ya think:
> > >Tera is walking and comes
> > >in contact with a merc. After some shooting (not hits) they somehow
> > >agree or it comes to them fighting hand to hand. The merc is clearly
> > >stronger and faster and basically beats Tera down for a few mins. She
> > >is laying on the floor and gasping for air when the merc picks her up.
> > >He is about to choke her and she starts laughing. The merc looks
> > >puzzeled and asks her why she is laughing. She says something like
> > >"Dont you see, your in a robotics lab... MY robotics lab). You hear a
> > >few beeps and see a portion of the wall (*there probably in a hall)
> > >fold out and a 7 or 8 foot tall robot walk or roll out (depending on
> > >if its on wheels or legs). We get close to the merc face as he turns
> > >around. He immediately drops Tera and the robot then grabs him and
> > >holds him up ready to strangle him. Tera yells stop or wait or
> > >something and then ponders. She could either then kill him or do
> > >something gruesome like brake some of his bones and leave him for the
> > >others to find.

Hey Boy1da, I was re-looking at the images of Tera, and I thought that her eye colour would look better a vivid deep green colour. Just a small detail I know, but at the moment there is a lot of brown colouring in the face, hair and eyes. Changing the colour would break it up a little, and create more of a focal point on her eyes.

Eye color no problem, I had her with blue eyes once !?!?!?
But green sounds good. I'll do it if I remember when it comes time to render her
for the final shots.

the vending machine looks good to me, i think you should make it wider.
and the things on the side thinner. depending on the scale of the thing
you should put a person beside it to show how big it is ???

here is an edit I did of it in Photoshop, so you know what I'm talking about.
go ahead and model it... if you have poser use a female model for your scale
reference. or if you don't I can send you one.

Hey J, I was wondering, have you ever drawn storyboards? I was thinking we need one and you obviously have very good drawing skills. Hey J, I was wondering, have you ever drawn storyboards?

Nope. I haven't. I created the concept and can texture with Illustrator (which I'm pretty quick with) which is great for more technical stuff but drawing storyboards would require me to use pencil and paper (unless someone wants to give me a Wacom Intuos 3 :deal: ).

Now now Kobalt. I didn't say I couldn't do it. I was merely saying in my own round-a-bout way that I haven't done any sketches for ages, and I'm probably a bit rusty. I can have a go if you are really that desperate, but I have warned you that it might not be up to my prefered standard.:)

Kobalt13

Well, thinking about it, I am kinda desperate. And don't worry about standars; whatever you have will be the best storyboard Ive gotten so far (possibly on account of I havent had anyone do any yet:)). If its a problem with your own standards, thats between you and... uhhhh... yourself, I guess  . How 'bout you do that one scene or "gag" I posted on the previous page. Just see if you can do a real quick storyboard on that (DOESNT have to be perferct, it'll be better than anything I could do).

BOY1DA

jsdesigns: you already know what I think of the model.

Because jsdesigns has joined on as a "prop modeler"
his first priority will always be models, as important as
story boards are, jsdesigns should focus or refining his model
and seeing it to completion, I hate to see uncompleted work.

Kobalt13, I came to the conclusion that it is better
to wait until we can get a dedicated storyboard artist
who only has the responsibility to do story boards.
That way we can get a faster turn around on image ideas.
The reason for this is that where you are as
far as writing, is way ahead of us in the story.
I put you ahead of us on purpose, so that you will have time
to focus and develop your writing skills, so by
the time we lock down the script we should be up to where you
are as far as models go. you still have a lot of time
to get help with your story ideas so don't rush it.
So spend time with your story ideas to make them great.

As for me I got to get my a$$ back to work on getting Tera's a$$ in that chair.

Kobalt13
01-24-2005, 11:38 PM
True, J is a prop designer. I guess it would be better to have a full time storyboarder. Come to think of it I know a guy in real life who can draw really well. He might be able to help with this (hes kinda a nerd too). Well Ill be posting anymore ideas I get, but its been kinda hectic recently.

I'm still hard at work here. I have started the animation process, I'm working on
the first 2 shots of Tera in the chair in the computer lab.

As well "Tdotmusiq" is helping me out with the props and getting the set in place.
She is also helping me out with other small things like UV unwrapping for the watch and other props.
Maybe I'll talk her into posting some of her work.

Well most of the time when this thread is quite and you don't see me around ,
that just means I'm working away cooking something up.

"Kobalt13" keep coming up with story ideas, you don't have to post them if you don't
want but keep dreaming them up. I've came up with a few new "GAGS" myself.

"jsdesigns" how is your crash course in max going ???

Crash course is probably right. Max isn't too stable for me. Every now and then it just doesn't want to start, or won't load mental ray dll's. And don't even ask me about how slow the screen redraws are as opposed to cinema4D:sad: . Apart from that, I'm trying to get used to where everything is. When I create something decent I'll let you know.

This is the first part of the setting that Tera will be in
at the start of the movie. This is one of the walls of the lab.

I will make it in about 4 major parts, then add an upper level.
The room will be a cylindrical shape With the chair in the center.
So I will bend the walls to form the final shape after I make all the sides.

I put Tera in for scale, showing off her genuine "Mark Alford designer watch".

I started to animate and set up the camera shots.I will do this as I go along.
In this shot Tera is typing on her computer keyboard and talking to
the head scientist, who you will only see on the computer monitor.

I will build the shots in layers. As I go I will make the needed props
and sets to fill the shot and composite them layer by layer
until the shot is done to satisfaction.

This is one of the animation test, for Tera's layer.
I still have a few things to be fixed, and will fix it
as more layers are added and so on...

Good to see ya "E5" I've seen your latest work "Oversized" (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=211675) looks great !

Thanks "DogmaD" I have much respect for your work as well.
Feel free to drop by anytime, your crits and opinions are always welcome.

I don't use much reference over all for my texture maps.
I try to go by the rule that dirt and scratches
tend to be more at corner or grooves and then once that
is in place I add a bit of random dirt. I painted most of the texture
by hand in Photoshop, but I used one 512x512 photo of old metal
to get the base color and noise and cloned it to make it larger.
you can't really see that image unless you go real close to the surface.

About the animation part, you are right and that
is far from the final animation for that shot.
It would be much help if you can point out more specifically
what parts of the animation could be improved
so I can try to fix it when I get back to it.

I just stopped working on it because I wanted to work on the
scene then get back to tweaking her with the backdrop in place.

Animation is my weakest ability
I know very little about animation fundamentals.
I try to leave that to the real animators.
But I have not much choice for now, until I can find
a good animator to take care of that.
most animators do not want to animate her because she is
a pretty complicated model and a bit heavy and poorly rigged
I suck at rigging too .

But I try to do my best with what I do know,
because the show must go on.:D

PEACE !

Ahh, ok :)

Well, i will give you the things i noticed that were a bit off in the animation. Some small things are pretty simple to tweak. But the biggest problem i noticed was that there was almost no movement in the sides of the face and around the cheek area. The mouth movement is good, but i would expect a bit more expression in the areas a bit further away from the mouth. This can also help getting a bit more out of the emotions. For example her totally enjoying that the other guy would be unable to do the thing she would love to see him try.

But it looks really good, i like the voice. It fits her well.

BOY1DA

Well 2 wall sections down 2 to go. This one took a while to texture, I don't think
I ever done so much texturing in my life. All them equipment and small parts are a bit of work.
I picked up a few tricks to texture a bit faster.

The screen in the middle is a computer screen and a window to the room that will be on the other side.
Tera will be able to put anything on her computer monitor up on the big screen if she needs to.
I will animate all the info graphics on the screens and try to put a glow on them.
I also have to make a trash can for this section.

I've updated the picture and edited this post, I modeled the trash can and put it in the scene.
you can scroll down to see a closer render of the trash can too.

Next part will be the door section.Should be faster I hope.

The idea behind this trash can thing is that in this place there is no food,
Only what is inside the vending machines, and as Tera is working she throws
the empty cans trying to get them in the trash and only gets one in.

WOw :applause: , LOVE the textures. The equipment that I made looks especially good, lol :D :) . Like the colour scheme. Still got the finish the wires pasted to the wall, they dont really go anywhere. See you changed the floor a little bit. Your pop machine looks really good. What ever happened to "JSDESIGNS" model? Like the Data Console, looks really good.

Wow looking good! Sorry I haven't been around in a while, I've had some family and work issues I had to take care of :banghead: . I haven't even had a chance to work on any modelling. I think the soda machine looks great anyway, and I think it suits the style of the project better than my design anyway. The texturing is brilliant too.
I should finally be getting broadband :applause: in a week or so (fingers crossed) so I will hopefully get my ass back into gear and do some more modelling.

Hey, "jsdesigns" ....
I figured "NATRICOLA" went out of business:shrug: , so I had to go with "FIZZY FRUIT" instead.
I liked the concept you came up with.It was way kooler then mine I just needed it to be much bigger.
The only reason I needed a vending machine was to take up space in the room the bigger the better.
No big deal, do what you have to do. I will be working on this project for a long time to come.

Hi Alex, good to see ya... what you been up to ?

"E5" , I have a few Ideas that I want to run by you to toss around in your brain.
I know you are a busy man, so I'll send you a PM and see what we can work
out to fit your timeline. it's noting real important but would be very kool to
see more of your work up in here.

I've updated my last post, I extended the cables on the wall just for you Miss Wallace :p ;)

"DogmaD" you made some really good points, and will try to do them when I get back
to animating Tera. So what have you been up to, how is that model of that soldier girl
coming as well as your other projects.

Hey "jsdesigns",
Kool concept, did you use MAX for this one?
Personally I think your first concept (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1916615&postcount=155) was right on point no need to re-design.
It just needed to be a bit bigger like in the concept that I posted of your work (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1913715&postcount=148).
This one looks a bit like a cross between a bank machine and a hot water heater for a house.

However I no longer need the soda machine, because I am now working on the last wall section for the room.
You are about one step behind, I am now working on lifter concepts with E5.
And may soon start working on concepts for a freight elevator soon for the second floor.
I will post updates in about a week.

Let me know if you still are interested in working on something and if you have the time.
And I will try to send something your way.

PEACE!

Yea, I agree with BOY1DA, I liked the first model you did JSdesigns, with the alterations BOY1DA did to it, that would've looked hot. The one BOY1DA did, I think, kinda suits the environment a little better. The one you just did kinda looks like a Canadian bank machine, dont know what they look like in other countries, lol. Kinda confused on how it would work.

I have to say E5 I luv the names you come up with,as much as I love the concepts.:D

By the way you should come up with a few Logo ideas for yourself.
Like an "E5" logo that I can put on models, kind of like a company logo for the machines.
That we can put on the final models when we texture them.

I'm sick of working on walls....
This is the last wall part for the lower level of the room.
I combined the steps and the door sections, at first I was thinking that
I would need 4 parts, but came to find I only had space for 3 parts.

Next I will put them all together.
The barrel in the scene has slots for the claws of the "Rail Runner Robot".

http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/Doorwall-08.jpg

Here are some images of the door hand scanner.
I didn't know what graphic to use on the screen.
I may leave it blank, and animate them all as a character puts their hand to it.

BOY1DA I think you should animate the hand prints, that would look better but take longer to render. I also think that you should put yellow and black safety lines on the floor, what you have now doesn't really stand out, when it should. Other than that things are looking good.

BOY1DA

I took a short break last week from 3D modeling so I can build up some energy
for the rest of this long marathon of a project.

So to get started back into the flow of things, I joined all the wall parts for the lower level
of the room. From this point I will start to texture my way back into the middle of the
room to the chair Tera is sitting in. As you can see the platform in the middle is still
un-textured. Then I will start on the second floor of the room.

Once the room is all modeled I will have to take some time to try to light it.
I have never really lit anything this large before so that will be a challenge for me.
Right now the room only has one “omni\spherical” light in the middle so I can see
everything. I will try to give it a much more dark and moody feel with the lights.

I made a quick video file of a rotation in the room, sort of from behind Tear’s chair
point of view. Tera’s chair will be able to spin a full 360 just like the cam.
That will give me the option of choosing any view for the backdrop at any time I need.
I’ve also animated the doors and the hand scanners, to give an idea how they
will open and close. I may also update this video file as the room progresses.

Sorry for the speed, but I didn’t really want to add more frames to
slow it down because I’m trying to keep the file size down.

While I was procrastinating to work on my 3D stuff today
I tried to pretend that I was a concept artist. Don’t worry I won’t
quit my day job, hey wait a minute I don’t have a day job.
Well maybe now I can be KOOL like "E5".... most likely maybe not

Okay this is a concept that I was working on with “E5” it is my take on a concept he did for me.
I’m trying to go for an ape gorilla type feel, trying to show that it has mostly
upper body strength. I also wanted it to have a slouch bad kind of body posture,
because it is so tall and always has to stoop over to communicate to humans.
The first idea was to give it legs, but I then said to myself…
“wheels would help out at the part in the story when the robot has to sneak up on someone”.
So a robot this size would be much more quieter on rubber wheels.
I drew the arm separate so I can show the body proportions better.

“E5” maybe you can do a redraw of it in the future. But for now
don’t even worry about it. I probably won’t be able to start working on this one
for weeks to come.

PEACE!

BOY1DA

I forgotten how fast you can turn concepts out, that’s your arena.

Here are my ideas on the concept.
I think the lower part is a bit too bottom heavy.
I want to stress the feeling of a small foot print, the wheel in the back
gives it too stable of a look, kind of like it can stand up without power.
I want it to be clear that if the power goes off on this thing it will fall over very easily
As you know E5 this is a very important part of the story when it falls over.
So that’s why I made such a small back wheel, and may also make it retractable.
Or just take it off completely. The best thing that comes to mind is an upside down
pyramid with 2 wheels very top heavy. The idea is more of a character style then
a practical machine style. even though the lower parts you drew looks great mechanically
and visually . It is more a issue of scale.

Over all I think I will stick a bit closer to my concept. Only because
I can see this one very clear in my mind of how it will work and even how to model
all the parts, however I will still need your help in fleshing out the details.

Most of the time if I draw something , and I don’t do that often , most likely
I have a real good idea of where I’m going with it.
I really luv the way you laid it out and clarified the idea. That’s what I will
really need you to help me with. I was trying to think of so many ways to show
how the arm fits, and when I seen your concept, I was thinking why didn’t I think of that!

BOY1DA
03-29-2005, 03:19 PM
Okay here is the plan for production of this model.
I want a real high level of detail, as with all my models in this project.
I will break the concept into parts, head, chest, arm, abdomen, suspension.
I will work with “E5” to create explicit details of each part.

I will then assign parts to separate modelers, that way each person
can focus on making their part to the best quality they can and won’t
have to worry about having enough time or energy to work on the other parts.

I’m looking for advanced mechanical 3DS MAX modelers,
who can create complex forms using mesh smooth.

If that plan don’t work I will just have to do it myself  :p
“E5” I’ll send you a e-mail as soon as I can to get you started on this.
Alex, I’m still waiting on the other models you were supposed to do ….:D

BOY1DA
03-29-2005, 03:23 PM
I’m also looking for someone who may be able to setup some still frames
In Adobe after effects, and know how to animate basic movement of frames and blurs and sound clips
and so on…

Here are 2 shots done by “E5” for the 2D story animatics.
He has done a few more and the plan is to tell the story quickly in 2d then go over it in 3D.

I’ve completed all the texturing and modeling for the first level of the room.
So I had a chance to play with the lighting. So here is what I came up with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one is my favorite one, I like it because it looks very dramatic and intense.
I may use this for the part of the story when the power gets cut off, and the emergency power kicks in.
All the low Power blue lights stay on and the only other light source will be the flash light on Tera’s gun.

http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/Blue_Glows_01.jpg

This one should be when the lights and power level are normal. Any brighter and the mood that I’m going for gets lost.

http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/Comp_02.jpg

This is a test render of the chair and gimble,
I have a white and blue light at the top and blue lights coming form the monitors.

http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/CHAIR_LIGHT_04.jpg

This one is just to show the complete textures on the gimble. With no shadows from the lights.
http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/CHAIR_WIP_12.jpg

Well now it’s time for me to work on the second level,
it will have a freight elevator and will also have the “Rail Runner” robot on the roof.

Very nice stuff BOY1DA. One suggestion I have is to change the colour of the lights when they are in "normal" mode. Maybe instead of the blue tone, use a yellow / orange / red tone. Just to have a strong contrast with the "emergency" mode.

It is starting to look amazing. :) I really like the emergency one, hehe. The other could use a little bit of work. Maybe add a little contrast without losing the dark mood. Play around with different light colors for example, so they are not all blue. Small things like that.

So, when do you think we will be seeing a shot in action with both the girl and the environment? ;)

BOY1DA
04-17-2005, 01:05 PM
Thanks for your comments, and your input is valued, it helps me to make them hard artistic decisions.
Many times when I was working on this I was wishing I had some input on what things may look good or better then others.
That happens to me all the time and I stop working and stare at the screen for hours thinking hmmmmm ”brown or blue”?

You are absolutely right about the lighting of the second one “NORMAL MODE”
And even though it is hard to tell the light I used to fill the room and make it brighter
is a brown light. My original idea was to make it have a brown sepia tone look.
With small blue glows, but the blue lights just worked good off the bat. And
the brown just looked very depressing. I also put a brown ambient to all the shading.
So maybe that is why the contrast is low on that shot as well. Maybe when
I use the brown lights I should use black ambient shading. I have more
lighting variations rendered but I didn’t want post them all because I didn’t
Want to bore anyone with tons of images of the same thing. So I just posted
the more extreme versions of the lighting. As well at this point I can still do
a lot of cheat color adjustments when it comes time for compositing.
Right now it’s just good to have the lights in the final positions.
Even though I still may move them a bit to cheat based on the final close up shots of the characters.

Well as far as the shot with Tera in it, I’m sooo very close. But so many small things
have to be right so I can enjoy putting it all together.
As you seen Tera already has the basic animation done. I even started to edit
The shots of her in After affects, with stand in models and a black backdrop.

But as far as this set piece goes. I need to make the upper level because when the camera
Goes low , to eye level or lower you can see that the set stops and has no ceiling or roof.
So that has to be done so I hope I can whip up a simple idea for the look of that part.
As well there will be 2 more secondary characters in this scene.
The first character will be a human sized robot it will be cloned so maybe 2 of them.
That robot is modeled already. And has been sitting on my hard drive for months now.
The other character will be Tera’s boyfriend but I may remodel him over make him a bit younger.
Oh and just the head and shoulders of one more character will be the scientist who Tera is taking to on the monitor.
If it comes down to it I may be able to cut Tera’s boyfriend out of this scene.

After all that, looks like another good 2 months before we start seeing any final animated and rendered shots.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I hate to post without posting any pix, so here are some pix of some of that stuff I was talking about above.

This is a picture of the robot called G.R.I.M it is short for “General Robotic Industrial Machinery”
They are made to assist humans is normal mundane tasks.
The model is done, this is just an old render, with no lower legs, and it still needs to be textured.

In the first image it has no arms or legs just to show the body better.
It will have 4 arms in the end , I just have to copy the ones I have on the right side.
http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/GrimSmallArm.jpg

http://65.39.131.22/H20WIP/GrimBODY.jpg

This model is about 3 years old.

head scientist who Tera is talking to will be. But we won’t see him, I may try to get him to walk
by the window so we can see his silhouette.

I put in parts of the first level and Tera’s stand-in for scale and placement.
I have to finsh working on the hanging light fixture then I think modeling this part is done.

Back once again from the depths of the bowels of CGTALK.
It’s very lonely and dark back there at page 1156525226 of the collaborations threads.

But it was very interesting to take a look at some of the very first threads
that started it out in the collaboration section of CGTALK.

Anyway, I’ve updated the front page of this thread with some new sections.
Just to help people to see where and how far this project has to go.

I put in a “COMPLETED FOOTAGE” section to show what is done so far.
And a progress chart to go with the footage.

I also put a “BEHIND THE SCENES” section.

And I put in a “TUTORIAL” section. I had them laying around , I used them
to help teach friends in this project a few tips of how I do stuff here.
So if you are a “newb” and want to see some tips in 3DS MAX check them out.

All the sections have video files to check out, I hope my server can take it ?!?!!

[Here is a quick link to the post where all the stuff is located] (http://www.cgtalk.com/showpost.php?p=1320735&postcount=2)

Well let me know what you think about the new stuff.
I'm still working on the name for the movie but I will have to see how that goes.

PEACE !

welcome back from the Darkside...and...Hey...quit stealing our ideas :p :)

Hey “Kid Mesh”,
Thanks for the PM it helps to keep up the inspiration and motivation.
But rain or shine I’m in this for the long haul, I have no choice really it just who I am.
Your not the only one that wants to kick back and watch it, so do I !!!
Yea I had to let loose on the behind the scenes stuff, I shot soo much boring crap
so I just decided to cut it all out and keep it short. We all pretty much know how
3d animation works so I just wanted to have fun with it.

Mark, how’s it going dude…
The honor is all mine, coming from the collab concept art legend himself.
Well if you love the dancing stay tuned for the singing in part 2 :scream: LOL !
I will be making an appearance in all the latest dance clubs …
Kool to see your latest work in the e-mails, keep it coming and we will be
collaborating again very soon. I just had to make it to this “benchmark/milestone”
so I can move on.

“jfelrod1960”
Thanks and glad to have you drop in to say hello, I’m more then happy to have you following
the project. By all means feel free anytime. Maybe one day you can program some “AI ACTORS”.
Or maybe I’ll explore an interactive movie project if this one works out.
Good luck with your spacecraft simulation, luv to see how that turns out.

“Softdistortion”
Yea, it’s good to see sunlight again.
Are you accusing me of being “phycick” ,Well my “ESP” abilities aren’t what they use to be.
So from now on, just e-mail me your best ideas and I’ll be sure to put them to good use.
But you can keep that Ewok cage battle idea for yourself .:surprised :p

Well back to work for me.:arteest: PEACE !

Softdistortion: ssssssshhhhh, don't give away the secret plot, about the love story between Tera and Jar jar binks, after he gets crowned as the world chap fighter. But I must warn you about how their kids turn out, not a pretty sight :surprised :argh:

I started working on the layout and camera blocking for the next shot.
Here is a hardware render of the shot and how the cam and models will be placed.
The final shot will have Tera in the chair working on the computer and as the door
opens a robot should walk trough and start working on the console in front of Tera.
The camera should pan to reveal the head scientist known as “TECK” on the big screen
talking to Tera.

CLICK HERE FOR LINK (http://www.boy1da.com/CGTALK/Shot4_Layout_test_01.avi)

If anybody is interested in jumping in on this shot let me know.
Here is what I will need to complete this shot.

Pre-made models:

If anybody has made models of a humanoid robot like the ones in I robot, or like
the ones in Bjork’s video “all is full of love”. The robot does not have to have a human face.
Send me a link or an image of it and maybe I can put it in the shot.
The model does not have to be fully completed, if I like it , I will see to it that it is completed
for the shot. Some examples of the look I’m going for…

BJORK IMAGE 01 (http://www.boy1da.com/CGTALK/bjork-01.jpg)

BJORK IMAGE 02 (http://www.boy1da.com/CGTALK/Bjork_02.jpg)

Also if anybody has the head of an professor type looking man, that can be used as “Professor Teck”
Send links or images of it also. And the same idea if it is not fully done no big deal.
I’m looking for a model that kind of looks like “Doc Brown” in “Back to the future movie”
Or like Dr.Cornel West.

DOC BROWN (http://www.boy1da.com/CGTALK/DocBrown.jpg)

Dr.CORNEL WEST (http://www.boy1da.com/CGTALK/Cornel_West_01.jpg)

Other models I will need:
I will need a model of a wall/hallway for when the door opens.
It can be made from scratch or if anyone has something they have already made
Let me know.

So if you want to be in the next shot let me know before it's too late into the production.

Thanks to anybody that shows interest.

PEACE!

Wow, I love collaboration project like this, it really gets the imagination out there. Two heads are better than one. I really like the work that I see, and I would honored to help contribute to this film. I am currently without a computer that has enough power to model, but I love illustration and concept design.

BOY1DA :: I hope to be able to help you, drawing concepts, and storyboards.. The scene where you need the camera to swivel up in the final shot, I was thinking since you most of this film is based around robotics, you might like a robotic droid security camera.. Here are a couple of my idea's, I don't have scanner :argh: (my two fav's are the stared one's).. PM me if you like the idea's :) If you do like any of them, I will paint them in photoshop, everything here was realllly quick.

1) The one on wheels is zippy and starts and stops quickly. It zips around on one wheel, and can make 360 degree turns by swiveling the weight around. Even when it is resting it stays upright on the one tire, much like the Segway. The head rotates 360 degrees, and swivels up and down. At rest position the antenna's go down into the body, and head flattens down into the crevace within the body. The circle in the center is a light, and the top part of the "head" softly glows blue. The two disk sphere's on the outside are motion detectors so it does not run into anything.

2) The hovering circle is just a rough sketch and would be more detailed. Right now, though, it is just a simple sphere with the computer system inside the sphere. The hoop around the outside protects it if it runs into anything. Each security camera is on arms which act much like human arms, and swivel in every direction. This droid hovers around people's head's.

3) The hovering oval is actually more like a disc. It has motion detectors (two circles), because it hovers around people's knee's. The main camera does not swivel, but is connected to the main frame. The reaction of the camera is very fast, due to the shape of the droid, and the amount of motion detectors on the sides (6 in all). The arms are for picking up small things; packages, computer bits, guns, etc.. and opperate on hinges much like backward knee's might. The hand's consist of two fingers and a thumb. There are two arms.

I hope that help's a bit..

Cheers

I have to say that it’s pretty good to have so many new people showing interest in this project.
It is a bit unexpected but a pleasant surprise for me to see as well, because it tends to be pretty quite in here.

So I hope I can get to know everyone, and get a chance to work with you all at some point along the way in the project.

Dennis: good to meet you, and hope to see some kool stuff from you.

Crazygui: Thanks, I’m glad to see that you are still following the project.

Fasoft||Tagos: I sent you an e-mail so hope to hear from you soon.

Neiyo: Great ideas you have there and it’s good to see your enthusiasm.
I will PM you and we can talk more about ideas…..

And thanks to all the other people that contacted me by E-mail or PM

Well, BOY1DA, I took a step back from the drawings and storyobarding, and made this. I quite like it, but I don't know if you've already got this stuff.. I'm sure that you do:twisted:

Tell me if you like it, it's really just a template. There are shadows I need to fix, and slight halo's and I can add, or subtract anything you want; words, colors, logo's etc..

Cheer's

Good Omar, I'm glad you like it! Sure, they can be used for wall papers for the final product, or for DVD insets, or scene selections for your DVD :scream: .. either way, I'd be glad to make more of them when more characters start coming out. Also I'd be glad to make more posters of anything you need.. I will work on Tera's right now, because I feel it's lacking some things..? Maybe a logo, and some more words in the boxes..?

Cheers man  and I'm glad you like it!

Thanks for dropping by.
Glad you liked the making of, I hope to do more one day don't know when.
It's all a lot of hard work, but I know I'm having a lot of fun in the process.

neiy0:
No problem, well I’m pretty far away from making the DVD.
If you are still following by then, I'm sure we can work something out.
And when I get enough content , I will also start thinking about a new website.

Thanks everyone... back to work for me.

Okay, this is a “WIP” of the robot that will be walking into the room and assisting Tera.
This robot was supposed to be the other robot “G.R.I.M” (http://www.3d-afex.com/H20WIP/GrimBODY.jpg) but I found that G.R.I.M is a bit too
bulky to be working on the computer, and would not look as kool in the shot.
So G.R.I.M will be in an other shot with “Patrick” working lifting heavy boxes and crap like that.

This is what I have so far, as you can see I don’t really follow my concepts exactly,
I see my concepts more as a note on things I may like to try out. But I tend to make it up as I go along.
I will add a bit more cables to the head, just to fill in all the holes, plus the other side and back
has not been done yet. All the cables will go down inside it’s chest.
That’s going to be an interesting challenge to hook up and rig all them cables, I hope
When it comes time to animate it’s not too much of a pain.

Oh and I also made some robotic eyes, but it looked to creepy , so I think I will
just leave them smooth and I may put a glow on them as well.

That’s it for me for now, this may take me a few weeks to complete.
And the crappy part is that this is not even one of the main characters.
It is more like a prop that will be in the background of a few shots maybe
1 or 2 close ups too.
