View Full Version : Horribe face colours
DrAdamDinosaur 07-05-2002, 06:41 AM Can anybody help me get rid of this horrible shading that occurs of poligional faces. It usually happens when i build half a modle them mirror and merge the verticies. The problem is that it appears in renders (a h, and its horrible to look at). Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this. Thanks. Heres a pic of what it looks like:

YOUR POLYGON NORMALS ARE MESSED UP....THIS IS AS FREQUENT A PROBLEM AS ANY I KNOW.
SELECT THE OBJECTS AND GO EDIT POLYGONS/NORMALS/AVERAGENORMALS/
U MAY HAVE TO SOFTEN THE FACES AFTER.....IF THERE ARE A FEW BLACK ONES SET TO FACE. IT WILL HAVE THEM ALL FACING THE RIGHT DIRECION. If thins go faceted (u know all flat use soften harden edges 89 is nice) UMM...IF U STILL HAVE PROBLEMS, VERTEX NORMALS SOMTIMES HAVE TO BE UNLOCKED.

Thanks guys, things are looking a lot better now. Tried everything but not in the right order, thanks. Also didn't know about unlocking verticies. Ta.
