This is something I started for the Polycount Fantasy Monster Challenge, but didn't have time to finish. Finally have had a chance to come back to it. I'm still working on my diffuse map, and have only quickly made bump map to it. The model is around 3000 tris.

It's near completion, but I would like some input before I move on to the rest of it.

I like this piece, the upper body looks to be nicely done, the head looks stylish.

The lower body is just not working for me though, it looks very stiff, blocky, anatomy and proportions are a bit weird. If you're aiming for a tree coming out of the ground, you can still do this without it looking so stiff, I would suggest following the nice line of action your upper body has.

Hope this helps.

Good job.

well I started working on the legs. They've been bother me since the get go, and I've finally broken down and just redid em. Would have more to show, but unfortunately I ended up having to cover for a shift after mine, so after 12 hours of work, im pretty fried...

in any event let me know what you think about the direction the legs are going now, or anything else that you see

Thats nice :)

I agree on the legs, the new ones may look better though. Perhaps make it look like hteres some long grass etc comming down over the feet.

Awsome work so far though.

The new legs are already heaps better then the old. They seem much more appropriate for the character. Keep going though.

looking good. my issue with this guy is the symmetry of your texture. think you need to run some elements across the seam, and take out some of the mirroring to lend this a foresty naturalism.

keep it coming...

well mini update. I redid the UVs. I broke up a couple areas so that I wouldnt be mirroring the texture. Anyway, here it is, I'll post another update soon...

wow, I've had a hectic week and a half. Finally have an update, here's hoping it doesnt get immediately knocked down to the bottom with all these game comp entries ;).

95% done with texturing, though any comments are welcome. I like the way these legs are working out quite a bit better. So any thoughts that you fellows have would be great, before I get on to rigging this beast.

bumping this up to the front. My webspace went down shortly after I posted so all I had to show was a nice shiny red X ;)

hope this looks a little better.

Really good work man. Bumping out those branches from his legs and arms would bring it to another level. Also I would make it a little more asymetrical. Keep up the good work.

I agree with h0pesfall on the bumping and symmetry. What you did to address this on the chest was great. I think you just need to apply the same principal to the back and legs.

BTW just noticed the three fingers. nice touch!

looks great
