Well, I'm really not an expert on this, but i didn't really like this. the story wasn't that great and actually very slow and boring. I don't mean to be disrespectfull, because this is something which I couldn't possibly make in my entire life. I have a lot of respect for the person who made this, but for me personally this wasn't very entertaining. That's just my personal opinion. I'm sure you experts think differently. Maybe someone can explain me why this is so great.
Once again, it's not my intention to be disrespectfull, you don't have to take me seriously

Hey it's ok, you don't have to like something that others do.
The funny for me was the idea, "an old lady doing things, which commonly are doing only by little kids"
And after reading the article, i must say this work have also some general interpretaion points about things in real life.
But it also only me. And thats the point, no one have to agree with you, he only should accept this. ;)

Well, you explained it very well to me. I'm not that smart. The only thing i'm thinking is... Little kids usually don't experiment with smoking. That's what teenagers do. I guess this CGfilm was meaned to be funny and to give you something to think about, but for me this wasn't very inspiring.

Absolutly loved the lighting ! It's great to see such innovative use in lighting an indoor scene. :applause: It seems like every other CG animator in the world uses the same boring lighting set up that looks like it came from floruescent tubes inside of an office building.
I loved the use of the sunlight from the window acting as an almost "white-out" light. It certainly let you fade between real time and dream sequences rather smoothly.
Jeeezzzz I WANT TO SEE THIS!!! HELP! CGTALK ADMINISTRATORS DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS LOGGIN LOOP!

The graphic work on this i amazing, I love the lighting and texturing...However, I'm not a fan of the story itself, as mentioned before it seemed to drag on. Still, very nice stuff!

I second that too...
Like alcapucci said, I dont want to sound like an asshole, but I found the animation too long and boring. Even though the modelling and lighting was cool and all, the animation didn't impress me. I love the smoke effects and lighting efforts put into making the movie.
Also it didnt make any sense when there was different "versions" of the same thing.
I hope I didnt hurt anyone's feeling about what I have just wrote and who knows maybe I am wrong.

yes i agree, the animation is not up to the same professional level as the models. its a matter of timing, think about varying the timing depending on the action, fast contrasting the slow, and more exaggeration. the sound clips are also lacking, they sound like clips taken off of a free sound web site, the coughing does not match the animation.

I second this. I have had that old man on my wall as inspiration for years now.
I think it ranks as one of the most realistic 3d face renderings around.
Very inspiring !

That's an impressive 3d animation by Lundgren. I was hooked to his work way back when I saw his Yoda and Picard models.

For those of you who have trouble logging in, please PM me as I'm debugging the code. Seems like it's a 99% case where 1% doesn't work. Frustrating.
Thanks

Pretty nice. I liked it over all, but I agree with some of the comments on the timing of the animation.

It was absolutely gorgeous, and the whole environment created through the lighting, textures and modeling was absolutely warm and quiet.

You know I've discovered over the last couple of years that just about anybody can make a good CG image if you throw enough poly's at it. While the image is outstanding, I felt the animation was a little odd in places and slow. For example the head twitched on the old man/lady several times and it made her look like an alien from that dreamcatcher trailer. The lighting is probably the best part of it, it really has a very nice mood and the bloom effects only perfects a nearly flawless image. The plot is a good idea but poorly executed. The pacing of it is a little long for the gags, and it makes me edgy having to wait for the next gag.
Even with all of my honest (opinions) it's a really great effort and the artist deserves praise for it.
art I give an- 8
Story subject I give it a- 2
animation I give it a- 4
hope that helps, just being honest.

For those of you with problems logging into CGNetworks, which seems to affect just a handful of people who are behind complex subnets or have other issues (see below).
1. Try loading CGNetworks and logging in again. I have modified some code to make the cookies more stringent.
2. Also check the date/time on your computer. Your date may be wrong, which expires the cookie prematurely.
3. Try using a different browser such as Mozilla (www.mozilla.org) and see if there is a problem there too.
It looks like there is a problem somewhere with the cookies getting killed during transport to your computer.
