Hey this piece is coming right along. There's so many new and freshly updated threads/posts it's crazy trying to keep up. I like your design with the 6 legs; that's cool. It looks pretty good so far. Just make sure you get lot's of detail into the head...it sort of stands out from the rest of the creature so people are going to be really focusing on it.

Hey, I like this! I like the six legs. I like that the back legs are bigger, and I really like the head. It reminds me of the monitor lizard called the Komodo Dragon. :bounce:
NICE MODEL....very good proportions! keep it up!

wow..must have missed this one til..well...just now...lol...looking very nice...I like this creature alot...the only thing I ask..and it's probably just cause you only have one so far...but what is the purpose of the chain in the last pic?maybe it will become clearer once you add more ..but the modeling is looking very nice:thumbsup:
these two middle feet fit perfect to the model, very well done
only it eyes could need some tweaks I think

Cool! Thanks for your comments...
-Bezerker... there are actually 2 chains (the other one is mirrored on the other side) - the reason for the chains is to connect (ground) both rings together...
I was looking at the 'harness' I use for my dogs (instead of a leash) and the constructions is also similar.
The back ring will have a different loop that will connect to a heavier chain that pulls the load... I think.
anyway... now it's back to the drawing board for the head... I agree it needs to get a lot more interesting.

..newest update.
I'm kind'a lost... I added detail to the eyes and gave it 'gills / guills' (is that how you say it???:surprised ).... but don't know if I like the result.
before (the one in white), it could've been the size of a horse, or as small and cute as a mouse (I was actually going for the second option... the 'heavy burden' would be something like a thimbal (is that a word? The thing used for sewing - boy it's late! I can't even think... or spell!:hmm: )
but the new option kind'a lost its cuteness....
which way should I go? White? Chocolate? or back to the drawing board for a new face...

The face doesn't look bad from this angle. Maybe post some renders of close-ups of the head from different angles to give a better impression of how it is.

a close-up of the head (I guess it's not really meant for a close-up)
c&c's??????

... the lack of feedback regarding the last image suggests that I should stick to the original head and just add detail....
Am I reading this correctly?

the gill things don't look too bad. I'd make them more wrinkles than gills, or give the creature a bit more aquatic feeling. (webbed feet, etc)

I got so tired and discouraged with the previous model (a mess of a control cage!!!!!! almost impossible to fine-tune... I'm still a VERY messy modeler) that I decided to start again with what I think is a better model...
This is roughly a dewback (from Star Wars) with a couple of modifications and an extra pair of legs... Never mind the stretch textures... what do you think so far????

Hey..... I liked the other more sleek model more...LOL Since I make my control cage out of polys I guess it is different for me, but the new one looks way too bulky.... the old one looks much cooler.... perhaps you could model the head seperately to get more control out of it, and then attach it to the body later....
Just my oppinion......

I agree. I much preferred the earlier model. If for no other reason than it was a lot more orginal.
However, looking at the current model my biggest crit is that the front set of legs are too close together. They look like he'd be kicking his own feet. (looking back I see the same on the old model, but here it stood out for me more.)

bring back that old model it was defintitely the better of the two. Never mind the cage just keep going with it. It was fantastic.

i agree, stick with the oringal design. If you dont like the way the control cage is(i know how bad Uber Nurbs are) just start over, it'll look better. After all Alex Lindsay does say model everything 3 times each one getting better and better
