Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm working on a character assignment for school, and I've run into a bit of a snag. We're building a character for an animated short, with full rigging, animation, and lipsynch...the whole nine yards.

Where I'm stuck is that...well, I'm never quite sure how dense to make my wireframes/meshes. I'll let my images below speak for themselves.

I'm wanting to follow (generally) Jason Osipa's lipsynch techniques in Stop Staring. Love the book.

So basically what I've got here is a dense mesh and a lower-poly one.

ANY input, feedback, help, whatsoever is greatly appreciated. Is the low-poly too simple? Or is the higher-count model too much? What I'm especially concerned with is the head. I'm afraid that the high-poly mesh is simply *too dense* to realisticly work with.

Anywho: All work is in Maya 5.0. The body is "nude" now, I'm hoping to use Maya cloth for the eventual clothing.

High poly body:

Lower poly body:

High poly head:

Lower Poly head:

And finally, an old strip for reference...to see where I'm coming from...and what look I'm hoping to accomplish. I want the 3-d version to as closely match the original version as possible.

Again, Thanks in advance.

I usually don't like to bump a thread of mine...but I am seriously in need of some help. I'm kind of stuck where I am.

I can't go forward until i decide which mesh to use....so....yeah.

Any advice suggestions, anything. =]

Thanks.
