I've noticed a peculiar behavior with my install of NET server...
After several hours of non-use (meaning no clients attached, no jobs rendering and no "hits" on it from web traffic) it tends to go to "sleep". The computer itself is not asleep, but the server does not show up through http from itself or from other computers. If I physically go to the server, click in the server window (the console looking one--not the web interface) then I can see the server through http again.
I've made a php script that checks to see if the server is there, and displays a message to the effect of "Render server is offline for maintenance" if it can't connect, but I'd really only like to see that screen come up if it really is offline.
This is running on Windows XP Home. Any idea how to prevent this strange behavior?
(Not that it should matter, but I've got the render server showing up in a frame from my website, which is on another server in another part of the country.)
Thanks
Gary
