I noticed that in your screen grab that your lines are all funny. I was having display problems very similar to that. I don't know if you are? ( it may be just the jpg conpression or something) but, if you are there is a fix at this link.
http://www.highend3d.com/xsi/tools/
look at the entry called
OpenGL 1.3 version fix v1.1
It saved my life.
Oh and nice work. I love the awning, the pilot cap and the high and mighty stance, on your critter.

hey! promising start
I see you have problems with wireframe display. I think that's because you use 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 :)
go here http://www.highend3d.com/xsi/tools/ read the "NOTICE" and download "OpenGL 1.3 version fix v1.1" put it in the same dir as xsi.exe

Hello there, stipen.. sorry for asking this so lately (you already begun modeling your beast), but I was wondering about your sketch... I had seen lots of drwanings paited that way. I really aprecciate to know what technic you used. Did you painted on photoshop? which brush settings did you use? Is that a tutorial about that?
Thanks in advance
Sorry about my bad english

I don't know if I can includ this guys in the final scene...this is not important to me cause my focus is only on the modeling of the beast....i'll add it after the challenge any way so....

Yeah Stipouch!!! :applause:
Good details in the last pict!
but i think your character in the previouse pict is too much big compare to the best! A mon avis quand tu va le grimper dessus, la bestiole va avoir l'air minuscule...
Donc scale le de 22.569871% précisement and enjoy!
Good work Stipen! It's time to Stop Cooking too (Like Nano and me!) :D
Adrien
07-11-2002, 08:48 AM
I'm agree with Totich..
the beaste seems to be smaller than a donkey - as high as a shetland's poney, in fact. For a horse-like steed, the saddle must be higher than the shoulder.
at this scale, i can't imagine your character seat on the back of this beast - maybe, with a shoe-horn, you can wedge it under the hood :)

Stipen....................I love your creativity, originality and very beautiful style. Bravo, you have a real nice style and flare to your work, I have a real good feeling when viewing it.
And your walk cycle is smooth and fun as can be as well, very nice job. When I saw your creation walk I thought eventually someday you can have it sing............Zippity do da zippity yah.................over and over again, he looks very happy...................Great job, top notch, one of the best thus far in a very good field of work, a real contender.

As usual...a very nice simple design that will work very well for animating. Love the concept sketch too. I'd say keep going with the detail but its working really well as is.
happy trails,
fetus
how can I miss it!!!!I saw your animation!HA~HA~it's very funny!the first impression of you creature shape is fast and agile(beacuse the leg is pretty strong and the body is small). When I saw your animation is quite different.Funny .strong personality.and cumbersome walk cycle you did.And I have two thought about the heels and neck move, the heels are over high to me and look a little strong.About the neck maybe can shake up and down with the body movment.
Just a thought!Anyway ,you still impress me !great style!

Great design. Really cool. A small comment about the animation - his feet look like they flatten when they bend. There should be a joint sticking out forward, kind of. Nice carefree walk, though. Fits the character.

wow is all I can say, man I can see how simplification is the key from start to end you build with such a high end of realistic simplification that makes it a realization of grate imagination and streangth in your work.
thanks for setting my mind in a new and more pricise path. I have rilly been woken up by your steps and teckneeks.

stipen I love your work! Great work!
I have a critique in regards your walk cycle.
If you keep the foot on the ground longer, it will give more of a sense of pushing off, thus more weight.
Currently the foot is releasing from the ground too quickly, thus giving the appearance as though the beast is "wiping" his feet. Kinda like wiping feet on a door mat or like a bull scrapes the ground with his front hooves.
leave the feet on the ground slightly longer and increase the bend. or I should say, increase the bend, let the foot stay on the ground a little longer, through the push off/ straightening. That should give a little more believeability. Also you could increase the timing of the release/straightening to denote more weight being caried.
again great great work.
Biohazard
07-17-2002, 09:31 PM
Yeah, great work ! (joli taf' quoi)
L'anim' est rigolote pareil.
I'd have a little crit : The beast's feet need a back toe to stabilize / grip... Actually, the only front toes just seem to let it run, but not stand...
Anyway... :)
dood! you got style up the wizzang. this is killer. let me know when you release the action figures.
