hi, i'm new to 3d animation, i just started to play with lightwave and maya a few weeks ago. i'm taking a class in high school but i want to learn more :-)
i'm trying to make flame, i'm not sure if i can do it in lightwave or maya or both. i did a lot of research but i didn't find any tutorials on it.
it may be too hard for a newbie like me but i just want to try to do it. if any of you guys can help me start or have seen a tutorial anywhere, please let me know.
(p.s. i want to make the blue color flame i saw in the preview of the movie "hell boy", it looks so cool)

Hard to make realistic flames in Lightwave (and most other 3D apps as far as I know). I can't say I've seen realistic flame/fire tutorials in Lightwave, I think many use video footage (see link)

These are cool though, but not realistic.

(btw, the topic/subject line should be more informative, like "blue flames in LW" or something, more people will reply to the post ;)).

3D world had a good tutorial on making very good fire a while back (like a long while back, 7.5 update or something mag) they should have an archive of their tuts on there site over at

I've posted some fire (and explosion) presets in the Lightwave Resources forum...
