View Full Version : FCP4 worth the upgrade?

Hey guys,

I've been using Final Cut Pro 3 for a while now and have had no reason to upgrade as it seems to handle everything I throw at it. Anyone found features or enhancements in FCP 4 that are to die for?

Well, we had a few aging G4's at our work running FCP 3, and had a large editing job dropped in our lap. We decided to upgrade to 4, and the speed increase alone is worth it. Much more responsive, and stable as well. Upgrading again to 4.1 further increased the speed.

There is also much added support for 24fps and HD editing. I don't work on a Mac at the office or at home, so I'm sorry I can't be more specific on new features, but stroll on over to the apple website for a full, detailed list of additions.

I thought the real time cross dissolves and 3-way cc alone were worth the update. I can't really remember but I think FCP3 didn't have a master volume either ...? Well I like that one in 4 anyway. I just find myself rendering a lot less in 4 which I guess is worth something. :thumbsup:
