Hi All!

Here my first post on Cgtalk, a fish coming from the abyss.
It is an old model that I rendered with 3dsmax6(mentalray) and retouch with photoshop.

Constructive critiques are very welcome !
Thanks

The fish is very good...
The background should be dark, very dark almost blackish blue if its a deep sea scene.
Needs a bit more contrast.
The other fish in back looks tilted.

Excellent work Man. Try using a bit of SSS Just to finish the image. A bit of translucency would look the biz!

even tho i hardly know anything about this particular fish i'd really love to see the one in the background wit more vibrant eyes, almost glowing in a way, but then at would most likely mean a lil tweaking in the whole background (which even darker blackish blue sounds good)
overall, the mood is awsome wit that kickass texture and lil move fishy is pullin, but something about that ground just throws me off a bit... almost as if it doesn't entirely fit wit the fish... maybe make some rocks or dirt, maybe even bubbles in the foreground to kinda establish more depth.
as i stated, i know lil to nothing about this fish, yet something tells me those lil tentacles or whatever hanging from the fish's upper mid section look a bit too sharp. maybe if they were a lil more smoothed out or even moving in seperate directions to make the fish look as if he's stoppin to glance at ya... yea, that could shut me up, in the mean time keep up the great textures!

great job :)

sinon un truc qui me parait assez important: on dirait que ta scene ne se passe pas loin de la surface, pour des poissons de ce genre c est pas trop possible ;)

I agree with Gary ! seems to me that this sort of fish is an abyssal fish....

=> Gpepper & Gary !

I added a lighting effect in "surface" because the image had not a lot of depth.
It is true that this depth has we should see nothing... (traduit en anglais avec un soft !)

Thanks

The fish is very well done, maybe try to close up the composition and enhance the contrast in the picture.

Hi (another time)

I think that you should really add particles in the water.

8 hours! Seems like way too much for this image.. what "full" options were you using for MR perhaps you are on a very slow machine?

Hi !
Yes, I have a slow machine AMDxp 1600+ with 512Mo RAM !
I only use "DOF" and "displace" with Mental ray !

Hi all ?!

I have a new version of the image with more particles which float in the water and with more contrast.

You can see the picture here :
